I wonder if this is something they thing they have found a loophole on, I.E there is more detail to come there but they dont want anyone cottoning on until testing gets underway?
But why not then just slap a generic 4 element full wing on? This way they are saying "weve found something - and its exactly at this point - but we dont want to say what it is". I'm not disagreeing with you - theres more to that wing - but doing this only creates more intrigue?
Fair point, I guess we will find out shortly! I wouldn't be surprised if I am wrong, its almost certain I am hehe

I just want them to get rid of all the OTT aero stuff in the bargeboard area between the sidepods and the front wheels. The rest of the cars are all pretty clean looking.
That's the bit of the car I find most interesting. smile

Oh jeez, why the hell is Vikki Butler Henderson unveiling the Ferrari.

Could this Ferrari launch be any less inspiring? It has less pizazz than the Mclaren launch

Likewise, with everything so restrictive these days it shows what engineers can do

The huge variation in approach to the front wings is fascinating this year too... assuming that actually persists into testing and isn't just teams trying to throw other teams off.

Agreed. From trackside they look similar but devil is in the detail

Agreed. Everyone is nervous AF. Feels really forced. There seem to be no likable/interesting characters in the squad anymore now that Kimi has departed. I started supporting Ferrari when Schumacher joined them, but I think I'll support Renault with Ricciardo and Alfa Romeo with Kimi this year. I hope someone can break the Mercedes stranglehold on the championships.

Jeez this Ferrari launch is cringe worthy

Launch the sodding car already. 20 minutes of waffle so far. Better be worth it

It's surprising how many ideas from McLaren's period in the doldrums turn up on other people's cars. Profiled rear wing strakes on all cars so far, 'Gills' in the front wing pylons of the Toro Rosso and Ferrari...

McLaren showing that they were still innovating even if their fundamentally flawed <2018 car didn't allow those developments to shine

There we have it. Some similarities to the Merc. I like the Matt red colour

The sickly hand of Philip Morris strikes again. That's not red, it's fking Marlboro orange. It's like 1997 all over again.

I'm hoping that it will look better under some decent lighting, but that bright red looks awful.

Edited to add - OK, some pictures have now been released that show it to be a darker red than it first appeared under the harsh lighting at the reveal.

The black tips of the front wing look to be hiding a similar but not as extreme concept as the Alfa.

Overall it does not look as 'mental aero' as the Mercedes - I guess launch spec does not mean much but overall it looks good.

Ofcource we won't know anything until Q3!

Possibly the most unimaginative front wing we've seen on a car so far. Enough so that it makes me wonder whether it's a dummy.

Not sure if it is just the photo angles/ colours of the cars but the McLaren seems quite fat in the coke bottle area compared to the leading teams.

From front on the wing is low in front of the tyres and higher in the middle, tilted towards the outside of the car. Similar to the Alfa wing being cut out in front of the tyres (if the wing on their test car yesterday was a real part)

Likable and interesting?... bloke would barely engage, hardly seemed interested in being there and didn’t produce strong enough results. Glad he has gone from Ferrari, should have happened a long time ago.

The Ferrari looking good. Fingers crossed for a strong year. Glad I didn’t watch the presentation if VBH was leading it. What an odd choice!!? Either vettel steps up throughout the year or leclerc can out perform him would be good.
