Kubica 1.2s slower than Russell on the benchmark track. Ouch.

How much longer can Williams justify keeping him in the seat?
Just as long as his funding keeps coming in, or no one else turns up with more cash!

It’s a sad end to a once-glorious career. Pay driver in tail-end Charlie car.

Also, in all fairness, Russell is also looking like a class act in the wrong car.

RK is out of excuses - and 1.2s is an absolutely massive amount in racing. Even his sponsors must be embarrassed.

I doubt that Williams will be inundated with bids for a drive in their car at the moment, even though it seems to be the only team on the grid where enough cash might get you into an F1 car.

RK results are very bad but there is something I don't understand.

He was tested by Williams during whole 2018 and he really wasn't worse than Sirotkin/Stroll. There are various reports, analyses and leaks from F1 experts confirming this. Also he brought to Williams "only" 10m Euro from sponsors. That's really not that much when compared to other drivers which offered better deals, including Sirotkin (15-20m). If Williams knew he was that bad (and they had all the data gathered during 2018) I doubt they would hire RK even if he brought 20m.

Vs 10th, they're slower than last year.
Hmmm, seems that they improved by 0.2 sec.
Based solely on qualifying yes.

I don't think it's a case of RK being 'bad' at driving, but Stroll and Sirotkin might not be the best benchmarks in the world. Even if his disability isn't affecting his driving, you've got to think that he's still a bit rusty when it comes to competition after so long out f the sport. I just think the GR is actually very good, and I imagine that if Stroll were still with the team that we wouldn't be saying the same about his performances.

Surely then, despite the injured come good moniker and publicity, Williams would have put some sort of performance clause in his contract? So they can offload him and bring in say, Sirotkin and his cash?

It could just be that GR is particularly good, not that RK is slow.

I don’t think RK’s lack of performance will be a problem whilst Williams are at the back of the field.
If and when they make progress and start pressurising the their immediate competitors then it will be vital that they have two competitive drivers.

They walked out in a bad way. But the RK situation is now embarrassing for both parties.

I like watching george onboards very forceful of the car lots of small micro adjustments mid corner, seems to have better traction coming out of the corners.

I’ll have a look at the telematics of that lap. Get the corner speeds.

RK very smooth, visibly slower at landmarks eg (bridge).

Would be interesting to see what there tyres look like..

Russell had a clean lap whereas Kubica had to deal with traffic?

According to the Swedish Viasat channel, RK on the way out, to be replaced by Latifi. Rumour only though, I can't find the link

They will take whoever brings the most money, either by direct sponsor or indirect sponsorship interest.

They will take the money, one way or another. Whoever drives, it will make no difference in the Williams points haul. No driver is capable of dragging that car from stone dead last.

Regardless of money would anyone want to be or benefit from being in the Williams this season? Just seems like a waste of a few million quid.

Let’s parachute Ocon in, I need to see just how quick Russell is ( & I think he’s very quick).
