Without reading the whole thread,

Where did it go wrong for them?

They had years of been at the bottom and they seemed to strike gold in the hybrid era abc having massa and bottas and they were getting great results had good sponsorship, did it all go wrong when they started switching to pay drivers and offloaded massa and bottas? Because it seemed to go downhill rather quickly! Then they list the martini sponsorship! Next thing they’re right back at the back of the grid

Replace "almost 2 seasons" with "1 season" and you get the intended meaning.
How do you read it that way? Why would she say 2 seasons, and specify which two she was talking about if she intended to refer to just one?
What she meant is obvious when you read the full quote, you are just being facetious.
From what I've read she meant "This car is going to have to last 2 years!"

Oh great. She's leading a war against male dominance in the sport by being the only woman with a top job, and also, the worst performing. Inspirational...

I would have thought she had other things to be focused on.
the normal predictable sycophantic adulation, "yeah girl you're the biggest fail in f1 since yuji ide but you show these men what its all about eh?"

She's not even the best female team principle, acting or otherwise, we've seen in f1.

That's how I read it, although not the one specific car, but two years of R&D around that platform, leading into hopefully something more useful in 2021.

She may as well have said 'we're surviving for 2 years - then, we will see...'

At the beginning of the 'Hybrid Era' they were gifted with the best engine on the grid and had a simple, slippery car, which got results on tracks that rewarded that. I'm not sure Massa or Bottas did any more than any other driver would have done.

Then they simply appeared to stand still or regress. They've slowly dropped down the pecking order and scored fewer and fewer points. They still have the best engine on the grid but not much else.

slight left turn , but , is it just me that's finds it impossible to believe that if you dynoed mercs car and williams car , the engines would be anything remotely similar in power output ?

Engines supplied to customer teams have to be the same spec as the factory teams. Customer teams have to have access to the same engine maps etc.
A rule change came a few seasons back. Sadly, Williams are in that much trouble.

Reminds me of McLaren blaming Honda for a slow car only to find the engine did have enough power but it was their car (although I appreciate Williams are not blaming Merc)

McLaren found, late in the season, there was a fundamental design flaw in their car... iirc they found out what the problem was well into the season and there was nothing they could do. They still have a good basic team set up, plenty of knowledge etc to move forward. Williams are clearly lacking on many fronts. Having the best engine package is not going to make up for the shortcomings they have.

why not?

She achieved more with less, and kept the show on the road through a time when others didn't.

Racing Point aren't exactly having a stellar season with that engine either

I hadn't noticed - Mercedes per chance? Although they have of course confirmed that Racing point are in no way a B team...
