First few races showed some promise, and Albon has put in some very solid drives. Alas, looks to be a long season ahead.
Yup - Albon not getting enough recognition for his pace this year. Really standing out imo.
yes

Verstappen / Red Bull seems to have a knack of breaking teammates.

Albon at Williams has hugely impressed me this year, both on and off the track. Will he ever be a Senna / Schumacher / Hamilton / Verstappen? No, I don’t think so, but he’s more than capable of winning GPs.
I was thinking this yesterday. If RB had an environment that nurtured their 2nd driver then Albon would be doing well there.

I’m happy to see Williams doing well. However we need to see how they do at the Hungaroring before we hail their progress. It doesn’t favour cars that struggle for downforce.

I don't think they or anyone else expects them to go well there, I think Spa and Monza will work well for them though

How many millions do you reckon the Williams family lost out on by selling a year or two early. Must be kicking themselves!

Could the family have funded the shortfall needed to sustain ongoing operations in 2020 and 2021? IIRC Dorilton have pumped around £100m in to keep things going post acquisition. If anything they massively overpaid in 2020 reflecting goodwill and the F1 entry rather than fundamentals.

The last few years before the sale were horribly precarious for Williams, with non-essential businesses and assets sold off, essential assets mortgaged, and limited direct investment coming in from family and friends, as drivers were signed on their ability to court sponsors rather than their ability to drive the car.

They took the sale almost as soon as the cost cap was announced, that made the team worthwhile as an investment.

I thought it was lovely that Sir Frank was still alive when the sale happened, such that he could see for himself the happy ending for his family’s custody of the team he founded, after being so close to the edge for so long.

New livery looks ‘retro-classy’, and like the recent clever use of the Duracell connection.
Not sure how aware Sir Frank would have been about events, towards the end of his life.
