clap
That would be a delicious coup de grâce.

Not only would RE be lumbered with the existing court costs, plus the likely bill to recompense Whyte for any damages etc, but you’d turn the wick up on them having to act immediately to rebrand and x cost.

Great idea.

I'd never heard of them until this thread.

Bikes are made by Raleigh, Dawes, and Boardman. Other than that....who knows.

Which is no excuse for someone designing a company logo. But as a layman...never knew they existed or their logo.

I've known of Whyte for years and remember longing for a Whyte 46 back int day as a teenager in about 2004. What's weird is that I've also been following the strange story of Rich Energy and although I'm more than aware of Whyte, I'd never noticed the similarity (blatant copying) of the logo until I read of the court case.....

F1 community would have instantly found that logo out. Here's a bit of history involving a benetton F1 designer.

Interesting read. Never knew that Whyte started off the whole slack head angled aggressive hardtail thing that so many have copied off since!

Same here, I've never heard of then till this.

Whilst the RE logo is a copy of the WB logo, all this free advertising for WB that they would not have gotten if the logo was different must be good for them.

They were doing just fine without it - very popular amongst U.K. based mountain bikers.

I still can’t believe RE logo designer was stupid / arrogant enough not to even amend the design slightly - even the typeface is similar.

....and Steiner: "We were told [that] when we need to change something they will tell us." ...who is "they", Gunther? Your lawyers, or the deceitful shyster promising you money? You're going to wait until he says it's OK?

Check with your lawyers for fk's sake, you fool!

Well it has gone to appeal so strictly speaking they don’t have to remove the logos...yet.

If I was Steiner I would be removing them anyway and kicking beardy mcbeardface as far as I could!

ETA: Obviously my kicking energy would be provided by an actual energy drink!

I bet 90 million empty cans, gorilla taped together into the shape of Thor's hammer would be enough to kick him into touch...

It baffles me that Peter Windsor continues to provide Storey with a platform to bleat about how his company has been stitched up (and how Red Bull threatened to sue him 4 times, over...well we don't know). Of course he had some sort of sponsor thing going on the YouTube channel from back when RE were supposedly buying Force India) but it's all dodgy.

It hasn't gone to appeal. The hearing in June is to discuss costs and also for RE to request permission to lodge an appeal.

So they don’t have to remove any logo’s then, until then? Which was my understanding.

There’s a few comedy reviews on the case of 24 on Amazon - one such:

“I was at a party and recommended this to my friend Claire as a mixer, as she was running low on Martini. Initially it looked good, but the taste was not good and there was a really funny smell - so she was totally left in the lurch and had nothing to offer her guests Robert & Esteban.

However, if you are American and more easy going, or perhaps you aren't too bothered about how it smells or things like due diligence then this is probably the energy drink for you.”
