Shocking news.

The reports suggest pulmonary embolism. Is that generated by long air flights?
I had to google this, it's basically like a bloodclart heart attack.

It's sad. It seems a lot of respected people, had a lot of respect for him. That I think says a lot about someone.

See ya Charlie. Say hi to Roland, Senna and Jules for us.

Both the above sentiments put a smile on my face. That's a damn good way of looking at it.

Very nice tribute to him from Martin Brundle and Ross Brawn on Welcome To The Weekend.

Ross Brawn said wht he did on a race weekend was about 5% of his job.

Increases the risk, usually starts as a DVT which could otherwise also end up in the heart or brain.
Such a loss and as we are aware of these problems should be factored into the planning of the race schedule.
Australian race should follow a week after a race like china and that way you are on 2 shorter flights. Maybe another race like
vietnam after aus. Or just ditch it altogether.

RIP Charlie Whiting. Always came across as an affable, approachable guy with few, if any, enemies, which I suspect is not something you could say about many in the F1 paddock. Jake Humphrey's comments about him were quite touching.

Having read the report on the BBC Sport website, I unwisely started reading the comments,

Some small minded cretin was down-voting all the RIP comments, another used it as an opportunity to berate F1 fans for following a dull sport when they could be following the true athletes of premier league football...I know posters on the F1 forums can get a bit OTT occasionally and there are comments of "it must be half term", but it seems to be permanently half term on the BBC F1 comments pages.

Terrible news. It will be so sad to see the start in Melbourne. A real part of the DNA of Formula One.

This is getting ridiculous. Thank god we didn't have twitter when Senna died.
