It may have been the truth, but you say it in private.... especially when your sponsor is paying for so much (80m?) and your salary...
Hamilton lost it and wanted to retire the Mercedes during the German GP. That was one bad race laugh

He's also a complete gobste, look at his "GP2 engine" comments, yes the engine may has been crap that year but Honda were pouring money into Mclaren, you don't rubbish your main "sponsor" live on air. He's toxic, I can't see any top team throwing away their bargepoles until he off the radar.
I very much doubt any of the top drivers in F1 would be happy stuck in that McLaren which was so far off the pace.

What he said at the time was the truth and the truth can hurt.
You try going to work and very publicly insult the people paying your wages, see how long you last, Mclaren should have sacked him on the spot, Honda was worth a lot more to them than Alonso was.

Worth so much they ditched them and moved to Renault, whilst keeping Alonso.

Yeah Zak Brown’s arse licking and pandering to Alonso was sickening to watch. It was at that point that I admitted to myself that Mclaren is no longer the team it was.

It’s good to see Mclaren coming back and it’s very good to see less of Zak Brown.

Well Lando has hurt his foot and it’s in a brace to protect it.

So if he can’t make it this weekend will it be..

Sky F1 driver of the year 2018 and official reserve Sergey Sirotkin.

Or.... (shakes head).

Has he? What did he do?

Not that I'm an avid fan, but hes been instagramming photos all weekend from Silverstone messing around with Valentino Rossi in the pits.

Anyone else noticed what Grosjean has been posting on Instagram recently? He's posting a pic every day of his career up until now working up through the years.

Might be me reading too much into it but it seems like he knows his F1 career is over and he's reminiscing.

Would be a shame if he is pushed out - always thought he'd have been a very handy driver in a decent car, but his early habit of crashing didn't help at all.

Next year they will have a second top driver, they will most likely beat Ferrari and take second place in WCC.

However well Albon does, I expect their 2020 number 2 driver will be decided and signed up long before they've had time to truly evaluate his efforts. Harsh sport F1..

Anyway, next year I'm certain red bull will have two cars 'racing' again and will really upset the folk in marenello.
I can't see how they can get a top driver unless Vettel returns. Hamilton won't go there, Ricciardo seems unlikely, Bottas and Raikkonen aren't top drivers (anymore in kimi's case), pretty much leaves Alonso or an unproven, younger talent, unless I've missed someone?
Bottas is a top 'number 2' driver. And whilst all of DR's reasons to leave made sense when he did, the fact of the matter is that the gamble has now played out and it hasn't yielded the hoped for results. The reality is, if he went back to RB now he would spend the next couple of years getting more points, podiums and glory than he's likely to ever see at Renault - given their somewhat questionable future and performance this year. He left RB saying he would never be a WDC there because of Max. But he will also never get that at Renault, or at least no time soon. Now that is known, out of the two teams why would he not go to the one that can get him podiums? So long as they pay the same, which RB can totally do.

I'm pretty sure Kimi would also get the job done. They don't need another Max, they just need another driver good enough to generally run just behind Max. This season, that would have been enough to overtake Ferrari on points quite comfortably.

No reason to believe the Renault won't get their heads around the simplified engine formula in 2021.

They have been quite successful in the recent past.

Ricciardo had few options - he has been around long enough to be team leader - something Red Bull ignored in favour of their latest flavour of the month. Ricciardo knows all about this when he arrived and was quicker than Vettel.

Quite simple really, DR wants the WDC, he will never get it at RB since he is not Max.

Personally I agree with Rosberg. I think mentally Verstappen has an edge.

It was 'that simple' when he was considering Go Ng to Renault for a chance there. Now he has, and sadly that hasn't worked out - and the reasons at Renault are fairly fundamental for that.

So now that is known, he has a choice of no chance at WDC at either team. So why would he stay at Renault when at least at RB he can have some glory?

It would be different if there was a third option for him, but I can't see one opening up. Not unless vettel does leave at the end of this season.

Max probably does have the edge. Although I'd say both drivers approach racing quite differently and there is a lot to be said for DR's racing ability, especially when it comes to overtaking. It's a little sad, but I feel as a number 2 driver, he would be one of the best number 2 drivers anyone could dream of. No title for that though...
