Hondas best finish but without the 2nd line team performing and arguably Gasly not performing as the same car won and lapped him its not their best points haul.
Mercedes if they don't win have had no support from the 2nd and 3rd teams so worst gp for them

I think Renault engines are similar to Honda performance wise. Chassis as probably more to do with it than anything else. McLaren are beating Toro Rosso in some tracks do engine can’t be too bad.

Interesting to see Mercedes overheating problems in Austria...allegedly

The McLaren chassis is definitely better than the Toro Rosso one and the Mercedes weren't allegedly struggling with engine temps, they were actually struggling with engine temps.

I'd imagine the Renault and Honda powerplants are probably about on par now. Seeming Honda have had 5 years to go about it, you'd hope they could be equal worst by now!!

Unsurprisingly, the engines used by the big-3 teams are the ones getting all the points. It doesn't tell you much more than that.

Well it tells you that the Renault works team are massively under-performing, but we probably all knew that already.

I thought that Renault would make a huge step forward this year and that McLaren would be 5th, at best. McLaren seem to be being badly let down my their engine partner.

Renault urgently need to bring some new blood into their senior managment structure, and from outside their corporate structure.

I am pleased that a Ocon will have a drive next year, but I feel massively sad for Danny RIC who seems to have sleepwalked into a nightmare scenario.

With all the uncertainty at the top of the corporate parent, it can't be a good time to get direction or support from above if you're the F1 team.

I wonder if Renault have an issue with their engine concept, a bit like Honda did a couple of years ago. Every time they try and pump up the volume, it seems to break. Maybe they'll see an opportunity to revisit it before 2021, or maybe that's the time to quietly slip away?
