Managed to get it in the points today with only the McLarens between him and Perez.
I think Stroll benefitted from a lot of attrition.

Accept that, but still think there’s something there in him. Take away his dads money and he’s just like any other rookie. Be interesting to see how he does at the next wet race, he seems pretty handy in the wet!

Take away his dad's money and he would not be in F1.

I think a lot of us want to believe he's a crap driver because of the way he's obtained his seat, especially after the way the undoubtedly more talented Ocon was shafted. And because Stroll has never come across as a particularly likeable bloke.

Stroll is, however, in only his 3rd F1 season. This one is his first season in a new team, and realistically you wouldn't expect him to be on par with his more experienced (9 seasons I think?) teammate. For a rookie driver in a mediocre car, he's doing well enough at the mo.

With a bit of luck, a combination of gaining experience and feeling he has a point to prove might just mould him into a half decent mid-field competitor over the course of this season.

Wow. You think 9th, a lap down is a good result? Really?

I have to agree with Rallycross - in the context of a car that is below their usual "punch above their weight" effort, and his performances to date, this was a good result for Stroll.

I'm not saying he is a quick driver, mind...

I wouldn't take REALST123 too seriously, he appears to have decided to stalk/troll me for some reason.

There should be a word for that.

Stroll is the poorest driver on the grid, with maybe the exception of Kubica but even then that's debatable.

A good or maybe fortunate strategy helped him to a decent result last weekend.

Ocon must be cursing the fact his dad isn't a billionaire, assuming he isn't.

Think Ocon's family were relatively poor.

From the F1 thing on Netflix, he didn't seem to be rolling in dough when he was growing up or now really.

Ocon will get his chance again.

IIRC Esteban Ocon’s parents sold their home and moved out into a caravan to support their son’s early international efforts.

Tbh I think Grosjean, Kubica, Giovinazzi are all far worse and I would class Stroll as on par with a few others now.
