The top teams giving 10% equivalent of their budget in to a pot to be split between the lower teams could have been a smarter - now THAT would be a neat self regulating system without the need for even budget caps!
Hmmm. I rather like that idea. scratchchin
It's basically how a countries top earners pay for the poor and needy tongue out

A proven system. Which most of us disagree with on some level, but such is life!

The cost cap has been cut from $175 million to $145m per season for 2021, and will drop to $140 million for 2022 before sitting at $135m from 2023-25, based on a 21-race season.

In all the years I have been watching f1, probably more than 30, I am not sure I have ever seen such a breakout of common sense!

Total common sense on the aero and tyres, can’t get my head around the floor being de modified, as that creates less ‘dirty’ air and red bull and Ferrari kind of rely on the rake of the car to generate the downforce.. they are going to have to run a lot more rear wing to generate that if the floor can not create as much.

Apparently it was done to reduce year on year downforce increase from 2020 into 2021 because Pirelli won’t be developing new tyres for 2021.

Sadly its taken an international crisis for Team Principals to knock their heads together knocking sense and slightly less of protecting self interest.

I don't see that as a problem. RBR have run high rake cars for nigh on decade now just as anti-tyre squirt was becoming fully understood and before the plethora of slits and cuts along the floor edges.

Matthew Somerfield speculating on Missed Apex that the 2021 regs could be delayed again to 2023 as Pirelli's testing of the 18" tyres will be impacted by Covid.

Another interesting thing that I didn't know was that revised versions of the 13" tyres will be used next year to cope with the downforce levels, which have increased significantly since the current tyres were rolled out (for 2019?).
