The gentleman’s etiquette of Baku will disappear long before you see a season of 1-2s imho.

HAM is one of the fairest drivers on the track but he’s not afraid to get his elbows out should the need arise.

BOT on the other hand, I suspect will start to play dirty if things continue to be this close for much longer.
I think Bottas' comment at the end of the last race was thoughtless. He knew it would be published, so why the dig? Very strange. He's been treated with care so far this season and I can see the goodwill/teamwork being compromised. Let's hope we don't see any pushing and shoving that we know Hamilton is perfectly capable of.

I wonder if the bottas hype has infected even bottas himself. That alone, is something that Hamilton would not fall victim of. Plenty of Hamilton hype over the years but he has remained pleasant and gracious throughout.

It's briefly tempting to think that if Rosberg beat Hamilton, so can bottas. But then I remind myself that with Rosberg there was a genuine relationship at stake, and Rosberg played a little dirty and I think that's probably the only combination of actions that could distract Lewis's focus. Rosberg had the power to upset Lewis and knock him back.

Bottas doesn't have that power. He will defeat Lewis only by being a better racer. Fair play if he does! I can't see it though. I agree, if bottas stops being a useful team player and starts to put Hamilton's 2019 title in jeapordy, Hamilton will start to drive against him far more aggressively. And push comes to shove, the team will in the end support Hamilton I think.

Cruel sport.

What comment are you referring to?

There is at least one similarity between Hamilton and Bottas which is evidenced here. It apparently doesn’t matter which driver is talking, people on PH will dissect every innocuous comment and act as though they have wished someone dead.

Can you point to a comment made here that suggests one driver would wish the other dead?

I can't believe anyone would think that of any driver. The last death was not so long ago, I refuse to believe anyone on here expects any current driver to wish for another. It's just sport.

EDIT: I'm taking a step back as I think you must have been exaggerating to make a point. It's just a slightly awkward way of making that point perhaps. Not helped by the fact that once you had finished deriding the judgement of others, you failed to provide any topical input of your own.

Why did Kubica get so few laps done in FP2?

Perhaps best not to question Williams logic. There is a whole thread dedicated to it and in the last few weeks the team themselves have released confusing and contradictory statements and undone months of PH speculation.

Let's just say, whatever the method in their madness, the madness will probably win.

Jesus says it's OK. He reminds you you're only human.. He invites you to engage in debate, and avoid the temptation to only mock the views of others.

Hallowed be thy name.

I thought God was called Peter; "Thanks Peter God" as opposed to it actually being "Thanks be to God"

Not unreasonable - there was a Paul and a Mary too. You would have thought that band would have been a bigger success, given that....

It's not going to be a popular view but I now want to see Mercedes get 1-2 in all 21 races. It would be a truly majestic achievement & let's face it just getting the WCC & WDC this year is proving a bit banal now.
I think it could be another 1-2 this weekend, but have a sneaky feeling that Max will win in Monaco to spoil that sequence.

Agreed. If Bottas is still up there after the British GP I think he’ll be thinking this may be his only and best chance a la Rosberg.

Do we think there's any more to this story? Mercedes meddling to flatter their car?

As we're talking of rosberg, his "victorious" year came when mercedes gave him Hamilton's race engineer did it not, changes of his team being something that unsettles Hamilton...

Read somewhere earlier (twitter?) that the FIA have allowed teams an extra set of Inters, as there's rain in the forecast?

Deesee - this one was two hours ago, so a repeat or continued threat of rain?

I've read a lot of criticism on here of Crofty and I haven't agreed with in the past, however he got WAY too over-excited when Bottas spun into the gravel there in FP3. Shut the f**k up Crofty!!!
