Do you really think the guy who is second in the WDC (to his teammate) is at risk of losing his seat? laugh
You're right it does spout some rubbish sometimes, in fact on many threads most of the time...

Bottas' contract won't be renewed - his face during both pre-race and post-race interviews said it all. He's lost his nerve too many times this season and Toto knows he's spoilt for choice of much better talent further down the grid...

Question is, would be want to go back to red bull, if asked?
A racing driver who declines a racing car which is a second a lap quicker and has the potential to fight for podiums and wins is no racing driver at all IMO.
But it's not exactly Mercedes offering Russell a seat though is it..

There's history..
If Kyvat didn't want a seat with Red Bull, he'd never have gone back to Toro Rosso.

It's essentially the same team - certainly the same owners (obviously) If he had a problem, it'd be present where he is now??
Didn't he get let go of completely? After heading back to toro rosso? Then got drafted back in to toro rosso? Wasn't he a Ferrari test driver aswell... I lose track of all the happenings so please excuse me..

I don't think he's there purely because he wants his red bull seat back, he probably wouldn't want the pressure of dealing with max and Helmut.. . he's probably happy just to be in f1 still, and be getting a pay cheque as anyone would....

Yes, he was Ferrari's test driver.

He'll want his Red Bull seat back, he won't care about Max, he'll want to be in a top 3 car pushing for podiums. He needs to get himself back into a top team to prove himself and put to bed what happened in 2016.

Kvyat looked proud as punch to be back on the podium, especially in an underdog car.

He'd be the right choice for Red Bull right now - he's mature enough to handle it now.

Kvyat getting the seat would be quite the story. I imagine he'd be doing his utmost to keep his nose clean. smile

Tough Sunday for Gasly, just as it looked as though there was a shot at a more respectable result. Perhaps he'll get there, but his stint so far has been remarkably generous by RedBull standards.

I can see it all coming down to what happens this weekend. The Hungaroring favours the Red Bull and so if he has another weak performance there'll be a swap over the summer break.

Same goes for Haas, doubt Grosjean will make it to Spa! Wehrlein...?

He was let go of completely, went to Ferrari as a sim driver, then went back to Toro Rosso.

He can't avoid Helmut - he decides the drivers for Toro Rosso aswell as Red Bull! Like I say, it's essentially the same team.

His mindset will 100% be to get back into the Red Bull and prove them and anyone else who doubted him that he deserves the seat.

Wehrlein would be a good shout for them - some experience, not slow (but not the next Schumacher either) and would be desperate to make a good impression with a second chance in F1.

Grosjean is surely out now. It was bad enough when he was messing his own races up, but now he's affecting his teammates and seems to be yet another destabilising factor to the team. Nice enough guy, but he's been the worst driver on the grid all year.

Somebody connected Wehrlein to the HAAS drive during the German Grand Prix coverage. There must've been talk.

Ferrari development driver and already driven a good few F1 races. He'd be a very good choice!

Just stating my opinion which is what forums like this are designed to do for us. I actually liked Bottas at Williams but in that Mercedes, would you be happy with his performances if you were Toto...? The German car industry is in severe doo doo right now, worse than our tiny enterprises, for what they're spending on F1, they can't afford 'mediocre' performances. That's what me thinks.

I've been away (at sea) for the past week or so I honestly don't know. I'll probably be proven wrong, F1 is a crazy business and is always surprising us, n'est pas?

Sorry mate, this post was originally about Gasley's future and was somewhat sidetracked, not least by me. Gasley's a bit of an enigma isn't he? Did really well at Toro Rosso and has dropped the ball at Red Bull. I think Christian may give him a bit longer before chopping him. I don't think the commercial pressures there will be as intense as at Mercedes - total domination is their goal!

Ocon replacing Bottas at Mercedes has been on the cards since late last year. I believe it was mentioned in the Netfilx series 'F1: Drive To Survive' too. In terms of points, Bottas is doing very well. In most cases, you'd imagine that Mercedes would re-sign him for next year. However Toto seems really keen to have Ocon on board, to the point where a decision will be made during the summer break i.e. Mercedes have not confirmed a seat for Bottas.

As such, Bottas is eyeing up other opportunities: https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/145314/bottas-lo...

Bottas has also been trying his hand at rally car driving ... Possible transition?
