Fernando Alonso
Discussion
Given he is older now, I wander if middle age spread has hit and then we could hear the team radio, "Fernando is fatter than you"
Given his history, I would love to see him race again, he always extracted more from the car than should be possible. I just hope Renault have the team management strengths to manage him.

don't think you can label Alonso anything but one of F1's greatest drivers ...if he'd timed his career moves better, or negotiated his contracts a bit better he'd be at least a x4 WDC by now
Yep.....and if he wasn't such a Alonso simply didn't, or couldn't, do this. In both stints at Mclaren I was told he put little effort into building those relationship and expected others to build the relationship with him. Little give in the give-take.
I've no reason to think that hasn't always been his approach and is a significant factor both in why he only got those two WDC's and his working relationships since leaving Renault the first time have always soured. It wouldn't have been all his fault, no, but there is one constant in all the times Alonso has departed a team under a cloud - Alonso.

Schumacher was the complete opposite and, he not only knew everyone in the team by name but also took an interest in their family and kids, in a genuine way, plus he worked with the team as a team, not for himself.

It would appear that he's struggling at the Indy 500 on now.
He was about to be lapped but a safety car has helped him
A bit of a half story there. Started well back, went on the alternate strategy on the first safety car, as did a lot of the cars at the back of the pack. All cars back on the same strategy now after the Nth safety car. Running 17th after half distance. Won’t win but running well. Long way to go yet...He was about to be lapped but a safety car has helped him

Is there a Piquet in this race
One of his teammates has already crashed. One more left...They do seem to park it in the Wall with a surprising regularity in Oval racing..
