I wonder how points are going to be awarded for the quality race?
It’s all well and good trialling it during next years championship but it could have a big effect on the outcome of the WDC. Personally if they do a reverse grid they should award points for every place gained like they do in the F4 reverse grid race
No points, it’s for Sunday’s starting grid. It’s all well and good trialling it during next years championship but it could have a big effect on the outcome of the WDC. Personally if they do a reverse grid they should award points for every place gained like they do in the F4 reverse grid race
They’ve chosen these races as they are far enough into the season that it would not effect the WDC, however it would IMO cause havoc with the WCC as some of the midfield teams could have a significant advantage over each other.
If you look at tomorrow (if this was the case) it would be a 18 lap race.
For Hamilton or Bottas gaining 10 places (when everyone in front is racing, CLC, SEB, Max) just to get midfield grid slot would be a huge effort over 18 laps.
I think what you may see is the championship front runners taking a whole new PU and just starting from the back, as we have seen in previous years the Ferrari/Merc can get up to 4/5th over a GP distance.

I think you’re all being a little unfair
Put yourself in Charles seat, he can’t see the front wing, he can only feel the front end....to him it doesn’t feel that bad doesn’t seem to be that damaged.
I’ve seen cars in far worse states been dragged back to the pitlane by the likes of Alonso, Schumacher and Hamilton
He knew it was damaged and stayed out, and yes those three have litterally dragged a car back, Alonso a few years back and Hamilton driving around Baku one handed down the straight. But not raced back..Put yourself in Charles seat, he can’t see the front wing, he can only feel the front end....to him it doesn’t feel that bad doesn’t seem to be that damaged.

It will be discussed, driving at high speed with a damaged car, ignoring team instructions to box with damaged car, endangering other competitors, stewards and spectators. Unacceptable IMO.
The FIA can't penalise him in any meaningful way without highlighting their own lack of action. By not showing a black and orange flag they have no case.Gassing Station | Formula 1 | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
