Where is Brundle? I miss his commentary.
He was racing last week but I don’t recall hearing why he wasn’t at Suzuka.

And at worst it’s clumsy management, did they tell Lewis they were putting him to keep the cars apart on track? I think they told him the mediums wouldn’t get to the end.....
I confess that I wasn't totally glued to the race and that it drifted into the background a bit, but I seem to recall Lewis saying his front tyres were utterly shot and Bono immediately replying with "Box, box" and Lewis then came in for tyres.

That was when he was in the lead at the time, and Bottas then inherited the lead and retained it.

That was the first tyre set, his second set were mint and would easily have done the race at a pace that Vettel had no chance to make up.

Yep, lap 21 ish, said his fronts were “dead”.... he was happy on the tyres when he was pulled in from the second stint.

I really don’t think the explanation they gave on the radio is what James said after the race..... they really don’t need to play these games and undermine trust.

Not buying it, they’ve engineered the cars to swap position on track previously. Why not now?
There is risk in a pit stop, risk in chasing a fastest lap..... And gifting Ferrari a 2nd place.

I’m not complaining about Lewis being pulled in from a race winning position (that he had been very fortunate to be in). But not for a second do I believe they couldn’t arrange the swap and take 1st and 2nd.... which of course wraps up the WCC.

At best this is the old “over thinking” it. And at worst it’s clumsy management, did they tell Lewis they were putting him to keep the cars apart on track? I think they told him the mediums wouldn’t get to the end..... it’s a bad idea to mislead the drivers when you want them to follow your instructions without question.
I agree. Whether Lewis or Valteri "deserved the win" is neither here nor there. Mercedes screwed up in converting a 1/2 to a 1/3. I guess if they are so far ahead it doesn't matter but in a closer season they would have looked stupid. I think if/when Lewis wins the WDC it will be water under the bridge but for all Toto's comments about always looking to improve they do make some bizarre strategy calls

The start gave it all to Bottas. The brilliant run from the second row, helped, of course, by Vettel's mistake (that doesn't take anything away from Bottas). Got in the lead and stayed there. Well done.

A very strange race though. A poor decision by Merc regarding Hamilton. LH seemed as confused as the rest of us as to why he was not given hards. Then he was brought in for softs. Poor, that is, unless Merc were going for the WCC, but even then, the fastest lap was not a given, given CLC could, and did, come in for softs.

It was exciting towards the end. I'd worked out that LH would probably pass Vettel. I can't help thinking that if he needed the win for the WDC, he'd have been long gone.

I think that when he signed his contract with Sky it specified the number of races per year. As the number of races increased he could either ask for more money or skip some of them.

Maybe they could save some more money and replace Di Resta with some nails being scratched across a blackboard.

Wasn't it something to do with his health, not doing lots of long haul?

I imagine some of the trust hamilton has in the team in making pit calls for the benefit of his driving has gone.

He’s got an 18 race contract and traditionally has missed Baku, Sochi and Suzuka.

After the first lap with bottas flying away verstappen and leclerc out i knew it was gonna be boring

Didnt watch it live so fast forwarded most of it

Dont understand why they pitted hamilton but means he can win the championship in another race

Main gripe is the commentary croft and paul absolute shambles....honestly brundle with croft is ok or brundle with paul but not both sheesh...honestly i wish they get coulthard and bundle together that be better

Is that also the case with DC?

I got the impression that Mark and Ben added their commentary from the UK

+1 but they need to keep him just so all the other team members can keep saying "Crofty" every other word."Well Crofty I think Crofty that Ferrari are going on to softy Crofty tyres"

The ch4 highlights show today felt very poorly edited compared to their normal quality.
Ben Shouty Edwards was being particularly shouty for no reason whatsoever today ( I know they pay him to do that but had to turn the sound off a few times today).

Half-watched the race as I stupidly looked at the BBC news this morning.
I thought the podium celebrations seemed a bit muted...
