BTCC - your favourite moments / best clips

After a quite incredible finale yesterday with an almost unbelievable result in race 30 for Colin Turkington / Dick Bennett’s / BMW it got me looking at some great old touring car clips on you tube.

What are your favourite BTCC moments?

One of my favourite old races was the Silverstone TT 300 mile race when the Australian Shell Rs500’s of Dick Johnson turned up and were quicker than all the European and works cars.

But this clip below is also worth a watch with Clarkson / old Top Gear team getting a grid of then current touring car drivers round Silverstone in their road going equivalent road cars - some serious oversteer being shown for front wheel drive saloons ( apart from the Bmw ).

What other memorable moments from previous years have you got ?

Brands Hatch ,Soper and Rouse in the RS500s.
I was standing at Surtees corner when they swapped places several times during that race.
I took pics but have lost the best ones of them both at it 100%.

Donington 99, Matt Neal first and only independent to win a Super Touring race. And a 250k cheque that had to be written very quickly as even TOCA didn't expect it to happen on the opening weekend. And I was there to see it.

Being stood just up from the old Hairpin at Donington when Tiff nudged Nige into the bridge in October'93. The series arguably at it's zenith (ok, this was the shoot out) & Mansell still riding the wave of the previous year's F1 title - though it's not the crash I remember so much as the Mexican wave of cheers as he regained places after a fuel pump issue. IIRC there were 62,000 people there that day, quite a spectacle. Still have the program!

Rob Austin’s win at Rockingham, it felt like the whole crowd cheered when he overtook out of the chicane. Might not be a defining moment in the series but that level of enthusiasm for the underdog is always great to see.

2nd visit to Donington Park in 1998, the feature race including Nigel Mansell.

Without a doubt the most exciting race I have ever seen, unfortunately I can't seem to find a copy of it online.
