Bored. Just let it go. America doesn't need two F1 races, especially one in Miami.
If you're going to have another F1 race in America, put it somewhere where it would make a difference like Detroit.
Imagine... And there is still so much worthless space around the modern city that could be re-purposed in to a dedicated circuit. If you're going to have another F1 race in America, put it somewhere where it would make a difference like Detroit.
There are certain political reasons for Miami though, and the money is (supposedly) there, it's glamorous (kinda..) so I guess it's an easy, if uninspiring choice.
If it ever happens, which it may very well not do.
I hate these US city centre type circuits. They are and always were pretty dull and impersonal. Detroit, Phoenix, Ceaser's Palace, Long Beach - all very poor.
There are some cracking road circuits in the US but if they ever hosted an F1 race, they'd probably be ruined. I like the current Austin circuit though - one of the best at the moment.

The Americans bought the sport.. this was inevitable and the second US GP was always going to be a commercial decision over and above a quality circuit. Personally I wish they'd return to Vegas and do it properly but it wasn't to be...
Think of it this way: it'll still be better than Paul Ricard..

Look on Google - they've already got the track set up!

Stefano D seemed to indicate they will be racing at the hard rock cafe.
It's the hard rock (sponsors of the) stadium they're racing around. Essentially the stadiums car park pretty much..The original seafront proposal was never going to happen as planned. Closing the bridge into the Port of Miami for 3 days to hold a race plus all the disruption caused by setup/teardown made it a non-starter.
By sticking to stadium property at least this version stands a chance of happening not just as a one off but for a good number of years. Miami Gardens isn't glamorous like Miami Beach but it's close enough that you can still use Miami Beach to put up and entertain your big money guests. Judging by Google Maps you can 'ferry' them back and forth via luxury speedboat.
An outdoor event (in a car park with no shade!) in Miami in June, that's going to be a tough ticket to sell to locals. There is a reason why the Marlins have a retractable roof on their stadium. So it will be down to the out of towners to buy the tickets.
Now if you are going to spend all the time and money building this temporary circuit doesn't it make sense to use it for more than one race? Maybe Indycar should get on the phone.

One of Jimmy Broadbents subscribers has designed the track on Asseto Corsa, I don't know it doesn't seem too bad, I've seen worse

Good point. Florida is a good market for road racing. Didn't know it was June race. Would it be well into hurricane season?realjv said:

It's not exactly Venice. The waterway behind the stadium doesn't appear to be navigable. I think it's just a drainage canal. The only speedboats getting there will be pulled on trailers behind trucks.entropy said:

You'd be surprised at what us "locals" do in the summer here! The Marlins roof is retractable for the summer rains as much as the heat!
