What programme were they running the car to? Were they using up used engines with turned down power etc?

His funding probably pays for the whole stay plus transportation. $$$$ talk to small F1 teams especially Williams.

Exactly. Williams have to figure out how to dig themselves out of a hole. In the mean time, with no real chance of a competitive car next year regardless of who tests or drives, it makes complete sense to take the dollar.

It is a bit sad from a Williams fan perspective of course. Nonetheless, it is sensible.

EDIT: Not that Williams are a small team historically or practically. But they are where they are, and until they figure that out.. In the sport they are beyond small, they are currently just making up the numbers so everyone else gets to go 'racing'. And they are also surviving by turning up and driving around at the back.
