I know it's dangerous to extrapolate from what we've seen this week.
Apart from Merc being out front, which is a pretty safe bet.
That's my feeling. Merc are owning the sport, Ferrari are clearly having problems, that's the headline stuff. Everything else remains a grey area - which is good I think, Melbourne will at least be slightly interesting if we can't figure out the midfield pecking order in advance.Apart from Merc being out front, which is a pretty safe bet.
A piece by Merc on how they look to figure things out.

Mercedes are off on their own race I think. The stuff worth debating is more like 4th place this season.
......again. Which, sadly isn’t really worth debating. Who cares who finishes 4th in any sport? Oh, well, early days, there’s still some hope but it doesn’t look good for real competition.
Hopefully the individual races will be as good as last season. Even if the championship isn't.
To be honest as a Lewis and Mercedes fan. I'm rather excited to see just how fast they can be.
And I also love watching people and teams dominate sports.
The like of Tiger Woods, Federer, New Zealand Rugby, Barcelona etc. It allows us to see sport being performed at its absolute peak.

So Merc the only team to do a 1.16 !
& the only team to do a 1.15 !!!
(&that’s with Lewis backing out on S3 on the fast laps)..

However much they've copied, I'd be moderately surprised if RP beat Mclaren and Renault this year let alone Ferrari. Happy to be proven wrong, but there's an awful lot to an F1 car's performance which you can't replicate with a photocopier. If Ferrari have gone backwards [i]that/i] far they can always revert to last year's car.
If indeed they’ve ‘copied’ and not just been given the designs. It wouldn’t do Mercedes any harm to have them amongst the Ferraris and RBR. REALIST123 said:

That is completely forbidden by the regulations. Do you honestly think MB and RP would be stupid enough to do that? You can be sure they will have been as careful to stay within the regulations with that as they have with DAS.

Well, true, there would be no investigation into industrial espionage.
However, I would imagine they are going to be squeaky clean on this due to the inevitable accusations.
I think mercedes have felt a bit exposed the last few years as their customer teams have been backmarkers.
They need someone to fill some places behind them and take points off ferrari and red bull.
Could have been williams but I guess they are too proud to copy.
Im sure there are many ways to have discussions on parts of the car with racing point.

Sounds like it will be another boring season with one team dominating, 5 min youtube highlights will be enough for me.
Have any of the other teams come up with anything interesting?

Does F1 make you miserable or do you bring the misery along to everything you interact with?
