Good for them. Can't wait for the pages of posts complaining about commentators saying Alpine when they should be pronouncing it Alpine.
Whether it’s Alpeen or Alpyne, it sounds good to me.
Hopefully this means they are committing to future road cars as well.
It is Alpeen though isn't it?

id pick schwartzman.

Illot and Schumacher are both second year F2 drivers, id expect them to be up there....Robert on the other hand is a rookie.

maybe put illot/ schumacher in haas and robert in the alfa
I wouldn't want to put 2 new drivers into the same team, pair them off in a team with Kimi, Perez or Hulk who have got experience to develop the car and help out the new kids where needed.

Bring back the Arrows and Andrea Moda teams, and Crofty won't know his arse from his elbow.
Maybe the Andretti team will join in from Indycar/Formula E, their Indycar is Honda smile .

Glad he’s got a seat. Hopefully now he’s not in one of the traditionally high expectation teams he’ll be able to get on with things without the constant scrutiny and people eager for him to fail at every race.

Could be exactly the tonic he needs.
The added bonus, is that next year the OG villain, Fernando is back. He's likely to bear the brunt of the negative press laugh
Everyone's written Seb off already, and there's low expectations of Aston's F1 efforts. Less pressure, a fundamentally decent car and the best power unit - it's the fresh start he needs.
There's a pretty good chance that the Astons and Alpines will be in similar mid pack positions too, behind the Mercs and Max, ahead of Williams and the Ferrari engine cars.

But you'd think the Italians would have more honour than that kind of thing. I mean they are not going to win any races, so might as well win the moral high ground, and be the best hosts.

I know this is mainly speculation about drivers for next year but I've got to say I'm intriguied about the new Aston Martin livery, I assume it's not going to stay pink?

Are they going to go full British Racing Green?
I would assume it will be similar to their WEC cars...Racing Green and Yellow.

I wonder if this means we will be seeing Vettel at Le Mans in an Aston at some point? That would be good.
Aston Martin's green is a bit paler than BRG, it will probably be this with the bright green/yellow flashes

Their positions in the standings are hugely skewed by Perez missing 2 races and Stroll lucking into 3rd last Sunday.

Or should we say taking himself out of what should have been an easy first win?
But even before you add last weekend's points, he was already ahead of the combined Perez/Hulk total.
Hulk still missed Silverstone 1 because they couldn't start the car.

Something akin to the AMR livery, Stirling Green and Lime Essence, possibly. Depending on how nostalgia driven they feel, it might go back to an old (Aston version) of BRG. It's somewhat paler than the old Jaguar green.
How strict are F1 livery rules now on team cars being the same? Could they run one car with green flashes and one with orange flashes?

If not, they could still match the helmets and camera pod colours like the Mercedes W01

Both Haas drivers have got the hint and are looking elsewhere for next year, Grosjean looking at WEC Hypercars and Formula E https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/article.driver-...

Haas would be ok to take on Ferrari junior drivers and gave them in practice sessions this year.

Racing Point and McLaren have recently joined the list of teams who have very deliberately moved away from the Red Bull style high rake aero philosophy with drivability issues and difficulty sealing the underfloor in all conditions. These guys aren't mugs and neither, obviously, are Mercedes.

Unfortunately its hard to imagine Red Bull doing anything substantially different for 2021. It looks like they're still trying to build a unicorn.
Do the 2022 rules allow high rake?

Another complication is Tsunoda, who was half expecting to take Kvyat's place next year and has Honda's money behind him.
Now Honda are leaving after next year, how bothered would they be about a Honda driver in a RB/AT seat?

The second RB seat will be interesting if it's Perez or Hulk, whether they're treated the same way as the juniors brought into the team ("the car is set up for Max, keep up or you're out"), or whether they'll listen to them, they've both been around longer than Max, and can give decent feedback on the car and what's right or wrong with it.

Checo? So good he was booted out of McLaren after one season, trips over his team mates in the heat of battle and is plays the game of counter strategy to try and get a lucky podium.
Exactly why I'd want to see him in a Red Bull against Max hehe . Assuming he can handle the car better than the juniors and get closer to Max, the pair of them getting their elbows out at each other would be good.
