He really annoys me.
He annoys me because he has been given this amazing opportunity that a lot of people can only dream of having and he consistently acts like a bellend and messes it up. Just take that comment on Latifi, he should know better than that.
Pricks like him shouldn't get 3rd or even 4th chances.
I mean I guess he already gets what he deserves as no F1 team will give him a seat. So I guess that's kind of comeuppance.

I've not been following the Ticktum stuff, just what crops up on PH forums. The song about Latifi doesn't strike me as particularly mature. Like many kids today he's done a poo on his own doorstep, but that's something even people old enough to be his parents are capable of.
The curse of The Internet and putting stuff out there. I am glad I grew up and made many mistakes before The Internet was thing otherwise I may have done it too.

That's a big problem with the internet. Stuff that you put out there is out there forever. It may come back and bite you in 30 or 40 years, but 40 years ago the world was very different place. Lots of things you can say or do will burn you now but weren't controversial back then. The curse of The Internet and putting stuff out there. Yup, there's definitely a difficult line between standing up to abhorrent behaviour and trying to impose modern morals onto things people did decades ago when they were perfectly normal. I'm sure in fifty years time people will look back at something we're doing now with abject horror. What's everyone's thoughts about Danny Ric?
Clearly under performing and with Russell chomping at the bit for a better car would there be logic in GR going to Mclaren next season?
Keeps the status quo at Merc for potentially the last 2 seasons of Hamiltons contract, GR gets an improved seat with a merc engine, then it's a shoot out with the ever improving Norris for the Merc seat when Bottas leaves or LH and VB leave

We know better than to take a drivers recent form and use it to examine how good of a driver they truly are.
Its his first season with a new team and in a new car. IMO when you sign a new driver you should be expecting a mediocre first season as they gel with the team.
He may well come alive next season, I doubt they will replace him though as that would mean they expected him to hit the ground running, which I don't think is reasonable to expect any driver can do.
To expect a better second half of a season after bedding in on the first is another matter, which I imagine is likely the conversations he is having right now.

Regarding the GR situation.
I thought Toto openly said last year that the 2021 seat was to originally Russell's however the sale of Williams got in the way and they had to deal with Bottas's contract before they could deal with Georges, hence why Bottas was only given a 1 year extension?
If so, the 2022 seat is nailed on to be GR. and I expect we should hear an announcement over the next few weeks.
I could be completely making this up but that's how I remember it from last year?

I thought he was signed to Williams for 2021 and prior to them being taken over Clare Williams wouldn't let him go early for this year, then subsequently Williams were taken over and by then Bottas had been re-signed to this year.I thought Toto openly said last year that the 2021 seat was to originally Russell's however the sale of Williams got in the way and they had to deal with Bottas's contract before they could deal with Georges, hence why Bottas was only given a 1 year extension?

I like him, so for me it's a real shame to see him struggling so much. Next year is a very different car and with his history in F1 personally I hope the team give him a chance to recover, but he is so far off the pace so often that I think his seat is under threat for next year.Clearly under performing and with Russell chomping at the bit for a better car would there be logic in GR going to Mclaren next season?

I'd rather see Russell in the Mercedes. I think it would be better for him, and for Mercedes. They need their next world champion. If he's that guy, rather have him learning these next two years by trying to beat the best in the business. No point comparing him to Norris when you can compare him directly to Lewis.
Norris is the opposite of Ricciardo. He's having a great season but his previous seasons were OK but not stellar. Ricciardo beat Vettel and then spent two and then beat Verstappen for two seasons out of the three if I recall, and suffered a lot of mechanical failures in that third. Since then he's beaten the hulk, who is considered a decent midfielder, and Ocon, who this season, like Norris, seems to have found top form. Now this year he's well off the boil, yet some seem to be treating this year like his normal. This is Ricciardo's worst season in a career that has had many very impressive highs. I don't think he'd be beating Verstappen now, even if he was at his best, but I think he'd be a lot closer than Perez... who last season was having a good one and was the next big thing, but this season he is alredy being written off in some quarters.
I think a lot of these discussions are flavour of the month and McLaren should see if Daniel works better with the new car in 2022. If he does 2022 in the Mac and still doesn't perform, then I'd say that's it for his career ambitions. He'll be midfielder for the reast of his Formula 1 drives. He's old enough that he really needs to be finding his success now, he can't wait 5 years.
Ocon’s hit top form this season? C’mon!
Let’s not let one fluke win cloud any judgement-he’s had a terrible year so far with some incredibly poor performances.
As for Ricciardo, he’s never been anything more than a competent tier two driver- people always seem to forget he was beaten by Kvyat in 2015.
