I can understand those who would prefer we see no changes, however, I agree that qualifying should set the grid for the GP. I think sprint races are coming whether we like them or not, and reverse grids in some shape or form too. F1 might lose some fans due to it, but if it's a net gain overall with the new fans then that will be that.
I doubt they will lose fans. Some might only tune in for Sunday. Quali isn't broken, but I see what they are trying to do in terms of giving fans more value for the race weekend.Personally I think we should have 1/3rd as sprint weekends.
I think that sprint races should be held every GP BUT only for the team's test drivers in a 3rd 'spare' car following a 30 min qualy session after FP3 - give them actual race experience in an F1 car.
As an added bonus, top two finishers join the back of the grid for Sunday's race but don't score points

But who is going to pay for it, and who is going to watch it? Is it only going to be a race with 10 cars, one from each team?As an added bonus, top two finishers join the back of the grid for Sunday's race but don't score points
The teams won't be interested if it doesn't count towards the championship, and most people won't watch a meaningless race with a bunch of unknown drivers. As it is, F2 only gets between 5 and 10% of the viewing figures of F1.

That doesn't take in to account that they're not freely available like F1 highlights are on Channel 4. I think that F2 and F3 should be available for C4 viewers too, but as it currently stands the times aren't widely publicised for the support races. I watch them on occasion, but usually only by chance. The teams won't be interested if it doesn't count towards the championship, and most people won't watch a meaningless race with a bunch of unknown drivers. F1 is still a bit of a niche motorsport. It's expensive to watch live (legally) but you have to subscribe to all Sky Sports channels.

They were charging £18 for one sports channel and £22 for all of them.
They are getting my money, of course it's begrudgingly, as I am from Yorkshire.
