I think that GP really didn't play out as expected. But in-between the endless breakdowns and incidents everyone looked on merit to be just about where expected...

The big thing for me was the lack of reliability!? It was like watching the first race at the start of a regs shift, not at the end of one! If a few issues aren't addressed asap next week could actually be more of the same weird mix of results.

Yes, Verstappen on LeClerc for example....

I thought from the onboard Lewis didn't change his steering angle either so the car just understeered along the racing line, it is not like Lewis tried to force him off or anything (unlike Lap 1 where Albon nearly took Lewis' nose off and run him off the track)

Bottas able to demonstrate the raw / natural speed advantage he has vs Hamilton. He is very underrated, this is his year to become the no1 at Mercedes IMO.
Have you been on the crack pipe?

Sounds like it. I suspect Bottas will have been very relieved at the first safety car. Lewis was catching him very quickly.

After the first pitstops team orders saved him.

Does anyone know if the Mercedes drivers had any good tyres to change into at the safety car?

Weird highlights. Sound is all over the place and not in synch with the video

Undertaker kane
One of the stupidest editing videos ever . This doesn't even deserve to be on the web. Disgusting

njezni2
terrible video. remove editor of this video immediately.

JAMBO C
Absolutely disgraceful video! A complete waste of time! People jumping places, and it doesn’t show it, shows half of something then moves on. Shows racing, then the next second bottas is standing with a mic. Absolute crap video!

YEAH RIGHT
Fire the video editor!!!

Desi Ninja
Worst edit ever. Mid sentence it moves to a different cut and some other random even. Was a professional editor not available?

Albon had won the place but I really don’t think Lewis was in a position to do anything else. Penalty seems about right for the outcome. Shame for Albon but he’s good and racy and the best teammate that Max has had.

Thought Norris was great, superb last lap and McLaren deserve some joy.
That's the way I saw it. Where did Albon expect LH to go? It was a bit hail mary.
Albon did exactly the same thing to Lewis on the opening corner... Lewis had the sense to get out of the way...
I can't see much difference between what happened today (Lewis/Albon) and what happened last year with Max/Leclerc, the driver on the inside ran the other driver out of road, if last year wasn't a penalty, I don't see how this year was (apart from the stewards last year not wanting to get lynched).

Albons were a used set, and others went on to new medium and finished strong.

I don't think that 5 second penalty was enough. Problem with time penalties is if the person committing the "crime" is way ahead, the seconds don't really affect them. Hamilton lost 2 places, Albon lost 9.

I think it should have been 10-15 second penalty, or 5 places.
Yes, that's a fair point.
Wasn't that much of a crime really. There was enough room on the outside for Albon. Lewis couldn't really go anywhere and it wasn't as if he changed direction to run Albon off the road. 5 seconds was probably about fair for something that could have easily gone down as a racing incident.

We've seen worse go unpunished.
Open wheel racing. If they were full body cars the wheels wouldn't have interlocked like that, there would have been contact between them earlier in the corner.

At a guess, we could have had an out of control car crashing into a broken car surrounded by stewards? Small chance yes, but if it did happen....

Crap race, too many DNF's, too many safety cars, too many personal driver errors, too many mechanical failures.
Those were all the bits that made it exciting to watch!

How was Albon driver of the day? Apart from getting crashed by Hamilton, he didn't seem to do much.

Hard to look past Bottas, really. Kept calm at the front despite repeated setbacks and delivered under pressure. The others all benefitted to some extent from others' misfortune.

hehe

I'm sure there' a joke somewhere about his mother and fraudulent voting. BOT definitely the driver of the day for me, soaked up the pressure from HAM, multiple safety car restarts, banged in the laps when needed and didn't so much as lock a wheel as far as I saw.

He can totally do the job when he's in with a chance but he annoyingly falls to pieces when he's not going for a win. Solid weekend at a track he enjoys it'll be interesting to see where he's at next Sunday night.

Special mention to Lando too, his unbridled joy and celebration with the fat yank was a pleasure to see. Despite my best efforts, I secretly wish my old team to get back up there.
