and/or Seb is indeed on some sort of downward spiral that increases in velocity at an alarming rate!
I think we really need to see a relatively benign and incident free race to see how these drivers really compare this season. It just doesn't look good for Seb right now.
He said after FP2 that he's happier with the car than he was last week. Maybe the eulogy on his weekend and career should wait until after the competitive bit?I think we really need to see a relatively benign and incident free race to see how these drivers really compare this season. Also, see last weeks quali.

but the pace deficit so far is astonishing imo.
You are easily astonished. There's been one competitive shootout so far this season, and Seb was slower by 0.165s and one position when it mattered. Regards his general performance over the last season and so far this season, he's been off his game in various ways - who can deny that? I doubt he would deny that.

Last weeks quali? He was 4 places back from LeClerc and nearly 3 tenths off. He was eliminated in Q2. And I don't think it's over dramatic to question what held him back today, which is all that's happening.

He was 0.165s off. You can't compare times different sessions that way unless you're deliberately trying to make an unfavourable point.Regards his general performance over the last season and so far this season, he's been off his game in various ways - who can deny that? I doubt he would deny that.

Anyone hear George Russel's comments the driver interviews? Strong words against Claire Williams.
Got a link?..If you want to have other people see something that you want to discuss then it's on you to provide the evidence.
https://youtu.be/701KIdA5Qr4
(The key bit is at 10:35 - sorry I don't know how to copy a link at a specific time whilst on my phone.)
If this is the clip there are no strong words against Claire - he just states facts about his contracts i.e. his contracts are with Mercedes and Williams, he has a contract with Williams for next year so it's up to Claire whether he would be available to another team, be it Renault or Mercedes, before 2022.
Nothing Russell said was even remotely controversial.
You're trolling of everything I post is almost as predictable as your replies.
Look, let's bury the hatchet (in the back of my head if you like?), I know you're still sore after I pointed out your lack of understanding of F1 engine installations for all the forum to read but it was like what, 3 years ago now?! I'm not at all bothered, rather strangely you're not my first PistonHeads stalker but I'm willing to accept it might be my posting style that attracts the weirdos.
But I understand it clutters up the forum for other users.
If you think I'm posting utter drivel (not unknown) then by all means disagree, if you do so in a none trolling way I'm more than happy to carry on a polite discussion-as a builder I'm more than happy to converse using expletives if you like but simply disagreeing for the sake of it gets rather tedious. It's all rather predictable at present, and that throwaway comment all those years ago wasn't meant to offend, simply to educate.
Anyway, I hope I am wrong about RUS ( ).
If Mercedes or anyone else were interested in signing him I can imagine Williams holding him to ransom to the detriment to his career. if they thought they could get an extra 50p out of the deal.

I'd be great to have the qually tomorrow, hope the rain doesn't kill the session as I'm genuinely curious and want to see if Hamilton was sandbagging today or not.
If there's a risk of no running with downpours tomorrow I can't imagine he'd sandbag, not the team would let him. Is he chasing a set up seeing as he was off the pace last week though (that's probably a daft question as he obviously is) and where will it get him?LaurasOtherHalf said:

What are we on a forum for if not to debate... Debate doesn't have to be polite in my book, so long as there is some intelligence behind the contrary view.
The thing is.. I've always held the view that i'd rather argue and be forced to reconsider my own views than 'win'. Which is a good stance I think, since winning an argument on PH is basically impossible anyway.
Arguments are good and healthy. Not because you might win.. That's just pride. But because you might learn you're wrong. That's why I argue, to test the strength of my own view. If it collapses under attack, I know I'm wrong

Is the weather really that bad for tomorrow? Or is it more they don't want them to race in the very wet conditions (which seems to me at least to be creeping in a bit more).
In theory the last word comes down to a driver vote as to whether or not they should run the session (it's the drivers that have to deal with the wet). In practice these days, race control will listen to the teams - who in turn will have sounded out their drivers. And regardless of the teams input, race control can choose to cancel if they think it's too dangerous.Everyone is forced to be sensitive to liability these days, so you're right - wet weather is increasingly likely to cause either a cancellation or an extended safety car start with the cars themselves being used to vac dry the racing line until it's deemed 'safe'.
