Hamilton 1.5 seconds quicker than Bottas, same Mercedes.I predict the usual Merc 1-2 borefest tomorrow. I hope I'm wrong, but I wasn't many times last year.

Because Bottas is no 2 for a reason.

Last season had more fascinating, fun, interesting and thrilling races than most seasons I've watched F1, and I've been at it for some weeks now. I predict the usual Merc 1-2 borefest tomorrow. I hope I'm wrong, but I wasn't many times last year.
If you are bored by F1, and particularly by last season, there's a simple answer of course.
I actually got up off my chair at the end of last week's race, almost cheering. Was that race, according to your assessment, boring?
It's a shame thre isn't a thread specially set up for those who are bored by F1 but, for some unaccountable reason, still watch it. Or at least say they do.

Is it that Bottas is contractually no. 2 driver? I'm far from convinced that that is the case, given the way Mercedes has behaved historically.
Is that Bottas is somehow being hobbled? Last weekend's evidence would cast doubt on that.
Is that Hamlton "needs" a clear no. 2 driver?
Or is Evangelion simply acknowledging that Hamilton is phenomenally talented and n his day pretty much untouchable.

Well it's a case of damned if you do, damned if you don't.If you do you get "Why watch it if you don't like it?" from the PH massive.
If you don't it's "How can you criticise it if you didn't see it?"
For the record, yes I did think last week's race was interesting, and afterwards regretted my decision not to watch it live. Particularly as this means I have no paint to watch dry this week.

Even with a Merc 1-2 the midfield is usually a great watch (and gets far more coverage in recent years), it's ridiculously tight this year so I'd expect more of the same tomorrow.Deesee said:
Close stuff (well from P2)!
Ferrari going backwards..
Renault & McLaren on the up..
GR with a good shout of grabbing some points..
Free choice of tyres tomorrow... who’s brave enough to go long on the mediums..
I’m thinking that Med > Soft is the fastest race if they can stretch the first stint, but for track position Soft > Med or Soft > Hard might help someone like Bottas or Leclerc make progress. The ‘green’ track might even favour a two-stop, given they’ve all got loads of tyres available and the race director seems to like sending out the safety car.

You can't be wrong about the fact you personally found it boring - but that doesn't mean it was boring in most people's eyes..Why does the winner dictate how boring a race is?

Why do you bother watching then, if it is so boring? Mercedes are clearly dominant right now. So why not give this season a miss and come back next year?"Why don't you just switch off your television set and go out and do something less boring instead?" as the Children's TV Programme 'Why Don't You?' used to say.
