F1 is the only sport where the teams have a say in the rules, imagine how ridiculous it would be if Man United/Liverpool/Man City etc had a say in what rules were adopted by the Premier league every year and how the cash coming into the sport was distributed. It's the stupidest thing in sport and aslong as that's the case rules that actually improve the racing will never be put in place.
Err, they do. That's precisely why the Premier league came about, so the teams had the income and power rather than the FA.Clockwork Cupcake said:
Maybe you'd like to see some more crashes too, and maybe the occasional death? Just like the good old days.
What a strange comment. Yesterday was only less safe because of lack of visibility. Lower grip and lower cornering speeds do not lower safety thresholds. Quite the opposite - higher cornering speeds have been an issue for decades. There is an enormous amount of inertia that understandably would resist any drastic change - too much invested in design, construction, aero etc. However, yesterday showed how thrilling it is to see the equation tipped back into the favour of the driver making the difference.
I don't believe that can only happen in wet conditions. The one enormous difference we have today over the past history of F1 is the use of single make control tyres. They should be used to allow slip and scrub without damage. Aero, power output etc can all be limited through the contact patch.

Can drivers start on tyres of their choice given sunny outlook for today?
How will wet settings affect running in the dry - did anyone qualy on a dry setting hoping to take advantage today?
Yes, tyre choice is free, but the rule that two different compounds must be used during the race still stands. Parc Fermé rules are also more relaxed than usual, to enable dry running setup changes. Mark Webber's opinion :-
Just caught up on F1 Quali.
There’s a F1 category and there’s then a F1 PLUS category.
Lewis is/was in a different league.
And whoever references “easy, he’s in the best car” pls don’t comment🙄.
Have a fantastic Sunday 😘

Mick Schumacher was up for a podium finish in F2 when the fire extinguisher went off in the cockpit. Retired.

Looking forward to this one, last week's race left a few unanswered questions due to all the incidents and DNFs etc.
In a way I'm almost hoping for a relatively straightforward race, just to see the actual race performance of the different cars..
Although I'd gladly accept carnage again too

How many Safety Cars will there be though? It was those that messed up the careful planning last week. I wouldn't be surprised if there were at least two today.
I just hope the Mecedes strategy gets it right this week.
I agree. There were so many reliability issues last week, the chances are that not all of them are fully resolved.I just hope the Mecedes strategy gets it right this week.
Also, the car killing kerbs remain.
I reckon Mercedes pace advantage is so strong that they could win even without best strategy. Although if there are multiple SC's, they don't want to get too sloppy..
