Quite the opposite, it's looking like there is opportunity for an epic race. Two Mercedes fighting for a win with a very close midfield with the potential hissy fit from Ferrari being spanked.
Totally agree. Racing isn’t just about the first couple of places and things are looking very tight mid-field - we also have 5 different teams in the top 7 spaces, that’s great.
This always amazes me, today on sky they showed a repeat of a feature about the first World championship Grand Prix at Silverstone in 1950. Pole and first place was an Alfa driven by Farina second and third Alfas, for nearly all the race until a mechanical failure Alfa were the top 4. The first non Alfa were 2 Talbots, both lapped twice. The next 2 places 6th and 7th were 2 Eras another lap behind and 8th place was 2 laps back again... It still seemed interesting and somehow has survived for over seventy years can you imagine if those margins were happening today.

Dunno what you lot are getting all excited about.

Lap 1, Bottas leaps out the way because he has been told to. Race over. Total borefest as usual.

I'm not worried, I've got some paint I can watch drying.
What makes you think that’s going to happen? Mercedes have always allowed their drivers to race.
Yeah, Singapore 2019 springs to mind when Bottas was told to hold station to allow Lewis to run away.

Like Alonso wasted his best yrs at Ferrari, Red Bull drive would be good for him, perhaps they can fix it for silverstone.

I think Horner loves rubbing it in too much.

However unlikely, I'd love to see Vettel in the Merc wiping the smile off Horner and Binotto's faces next season.

Vettels too good not to have a drive, sadly that does not seem to matter anymore.

As ever, the teams at the top have an A/B driver line up (let's not pretend Bottas is level with Hamilton), leaving a top driver just 3 drives on the grid with a chance of winning. If you're leaving one of those top seats, it means there are only two. Max and Hamilton aren't going anywhere, which leaves none.

If Vettel isn't done, he either has to usurp Hamilton, persuade Mercedes to take him on as well as Hamilton, or find a team that is realistically expecting to join the top table in '22, by which time, will Vettel really be the person you hire in '21 to lead it for the immediate foreseeable and into the new regs era?

Suppose there is an outside chance Red Bull could tire of Albon being 3 tenths off Max every weekend and realise they don't want either of their Alpha Tauri rejects back in the box seat. It'd risk really upsetting the apple cart with the golden child, though.

This.

Ferarri just seems to be a team that has existed in the last few years to destroy drivers and screw themselves over repeatedly.

Yeh but, no drive at all.. crazy.. these cars are next yrs so Merc could put him in and not have to worry about the WCC.

And Albon being off the pace, he’s driving a car with no upgrades (max had these) apart from a front wing of which they bought the grand total of two, then which Max broke his in FP2 turn 7, so they brought in Alex’s car during the session took it off and saved for Quali for Max....

'twas ever thus at RB. Must be a thankless task being the lead driver's +1 with nothing but the occasional spittled contempt from the bosses for not managing to drag your inferior equipment and support around the circuit faster than the number 1.

I was being humorous. Albon has done very well so I was wondering who one thinks Vettel would replace at Red Bull biglaugh
