How do they not have the opportunity?

Does the Mercedes' Careers website ask your ethnicity before deciding whether to let you apply?

Doesn't really matter what you think. Mercedes themselves believe that a 3% representation is unacceptable, and only 12% women as well. Things will change...

Can you answer my Q please:

How do they currently not have the opportunity?

Yes, things might change.

They might stop winning because instead of having the best people they are filling their quotas.

I prefer the black Mercedes to the silver one.

I always saw F1 as the ultimate meritocracy.

What is always ignored is that certain types of people have a natural preference for certain jobs and certain industries. You'll never get e.g. half the engineers in F1 being female, because women aren't as interested as men, on average, in engineering.

You'll also never get half of prison inmates being women, because women aren't as criminal as men, on average.

Always anuses me that there's never a big push to get women into some male dominated jobs, like working on the bins or bricklaying.

Or maybe they might find better people and win more?

How far back through history do we want to go?? But seriously, have a read on the internet as there's plenty there on the subject. Again, Mercedes are now very aware that they need to change, and will do.

But what happens if the best people aren't BAME, will they choose a lesser candidate to uphold "diversity"?

I'm being serious:

-Anyone can sit school exams
-Anyone can apply to study engineering
-Anyone can apply to Mercedes F1

So where is this lack of opportunity mentioned?

The “better people” can apply now and in the past.

You're leaving it because you have no logical, coherent argument.

Alternatively tell us how there has been no opportunity? If you can't, we know it's all BS

Have a read.. https://www.ethnicity-facts-figures.service.gov.uk... and work from there.

What's it with all the lefty comments?? I've never voted left, but it's obvious that there's still major problems to resolve. As acknowledged by Mercedes.

Enjoy the GP!

..but are responsible for 50% of the murders... Facts are racist
And why is that?
Are black people naturally more violent?
Or is it a result of living in a worse economic situation (some would say poverty but it is a much over used word in the West when you compare it to true poverty)? Lack of economic opportunities leads to higher crime rate. This can be seen with all races.
It's also directly connected with their personal values and lifestyle choices.

Many of the black women I know have had enough of the black guys who are Baby Fathers. They have multiple babies with multiple women, 6 or more is not uncommon.

That can financially cripple many men, who then resort to crime in order to fund their lifestyle.
Yes and linked to that is lack of an upbringing the children have. Quoted from B.Obama: “We all know the statistics. That children who grow
up without a father are five times more likely to live in poverty and commit crime; nine times
more likely to drop out of school and 20 times more likely to end up in prison.”
That's correct. It's not easy to choose a different path, but worth it if you can stick at it.

No, I'm not trawling through an entire Gov website.

You implied there was no opportunity, so back it up here.

Well, if you can't be bothered (or want to ignore the obvious) I'm probably wasting my time.. have a read about unconscious bias as well.

Please point out where i "implied there was no opportunity"?
