Still yet to see a single explanation for how taking the knee before the race, the 'we race as one' message, and some slogans printed on the masks of some of the drivers tangibly diminishes ones ability to enjoy a motor race.
Because of the high risk of far right groups infiltrating the event...apparently.There is no end.....

Because it's "politics innit".The (wilful?) lack of critical thinking in this thread is more befitting a class of primary school children than adults.
However, I do not think that makes those saying this in here fundamentally bad people.
Naïve maybe. A bit blinkered maybe. Maybe some people are struggling with unconscious bias and have some soul searching to do. But is everyone in here, barring a few clear bad actors, fundamentally bad people? I doubt it, but neither should they be surprised by people asking them to explain themselves when expressing their view given sporting history.
Sport has always been used as a political tool it is just a fact and stating F1 shouldn't be getting involved does ignore history. See the examples bought up. What people really have to come to terms with is the real world has finally caught up with F1 and the coverage is going to reflect that. As I said before, we as viewers either have to adapt with it, severely limit our consumption or walk away. But to say 'sport shouldn't have anything to do with politics' is naïve. Especially when the FIA and drivers supporting BLM isn't political and neither is Hamilton's individual activism during a race weekend (all be it a little clumsy once in a while). As viewers we either adapt or we cease to be viewers. That's the reality.

So, stupid but well-meaning.
But I’m good to my mum, so that’s something.
Tell me why. Genuinely. Rather than make an equally throw away comment as other deliberately divisive posters, tell me why 'stupid' at least. I'm a big boy and if I need educating I really would like to be. But don't just insult me, please. But I’m good to my mum, so that’s something.

Stupid for not realising that everything is political but well-meaning.
I’m not accusing you of anything.

But I wasn't calling anyone stupid, or you personally. So again, apologies.

Thanks for the advice on how to think.
I’d just prefer that sports awards ceremonies don’t become a political events generally.
So you'd have stopped this from happening then?I’d just prefer that sports awards ceremonies don’t become a political events generally.
A worthwhile exception I think.

In that capacity, he's not a political prisoner. He's the elected President of the country. But he became President by virtue of being a political prisoner.
Endless stuff this politics

In other news what do you think about to what that knob-head lando said when asked about LH’s 92 wins? I used to think he was alright now I think he’s an arrogant big head who obviously thinks he could be winning like Lewis if only he was in that car. Disappointing.

Asked for his view on his fellow Briton’s achievement, Norris said: “I’m just happy for him, nothing more.
“It doesn’t mean anything to me, really. He’s in a car which should win every race, basically.
“He has to beat one or two other drivers, that’s it. Fair play to him, he’s still doing the job he has to do.”

I think Hamilton has worked very hard to get where he is, fully deserves to hold the record for race wins and am proud that he's a Brit.
I also can't see what there is to disagree with Lando about. He's right. Hamilton did only have to beat his teammate for most of those wins. As does any multiple WDC.

Whilst not showing the greatest respect, I don't see the need to be too harsh on Lando.
Why should he care? These are competitive people, some of the most competitive people. They want to be the one winning, not congratulating someone else.
He should have acknowledged it a little more kindly, but I think he's only really guilty of saying what most of them think.
He's young - he'll learn.

That isn’t true. Well it’s not provable and so it’s an opinion. It might be the case but the chances are it’s not.
The chances are that it is true. It's speculative but based on a lot of good evidence. We have his performances from when he was in equal cars, GP2, F3, etc. We also have the opinions of the current team managers, almost all of whom consistently rate him as the best, year on year.
Some here know better, of course.

We just don't know if he'd win in equal cars. GP2, F3 are supposed to be equal, but we know they're not.
As for the current team managers - opinions are like aholes.
It's reasonable to say that in a field of 20 cars he likely wouldn't be at the back, but we just don't know.
