I put Jordan originally. Then realised I’d have to add LeBron these days and probably Steph Curry. At which point it gets silly and ppl who don’t have a life outside of whinging about Crofty say “who?”.

Hamilton like that is operating at a level I’ve only seen the following operate at:
Phelps
Brady
The Fed
Rafa
Dan Carter
Bolt

In my head that’s as elite company for a sportsman, as it gets.
Tiger Woods tops that list smile
Tiger Woods and the entire game of golf isn’t even close to that list.
Surely Jordan?
Redgrave?
Phil Taylor
Chris Eubank
Stephen Hendry
Tyson Fury
Eric Bristow

My father in law. Was undefeated at his chosen sport for about 10 years, multiple British, Euro and World championships, held the world record for about 15 years.

Sorry Will, you can’t leave that hanging. Even if it’s some quaint local sport-like left handed table skittles or black pudding throwing- it’s still an impressive run.

I thought we were naming the GOAT? Eubank, as if. Fury. Not a chance. many many historical heavyweights would have wrapped him up. Riddick Bowe, Lennox Lewis, holyfield, tyson *(mike) no question. Phil Taylor for the arrows. O'sullivan for snooker smile

Brilliant and thanks for sharing. He is so natural with kids. Inspiring.
Wow, LH with kids is either an amazingly good 'act' or he is a real natural. As a non-cynical person, I'd say his quest to call out racism etc is authentic. He's in Saudia Arabia with a 'fk your intolerance' rainbow on his helmet this weekend. Feels 100% legit that he does these things.

Qatar this weekend by the way, Saudi in two weeks and Abu Dhabi after that. I hope Hamilton keeps the ‘love is love’ helmet for the rest of the season.

Another qualifying masterclass today, the best part of half a second faster than the field. Set a banker at the start of Q3, then just went for it at the end, out on his own. 102 poles in the bag now.

None of these names are the best ever in their given sport.

Chris Eubank wasn't even the best middleweight in the world at his peak.

The only person here comparable to Hamilton's level of dominance is Stephen Hendry.

It does but he should have done it in Russia and Hungary too, not just the Middle Eastern countries. At least it would have been consistent with his views instead of people saying he is being an opportunist.

Also, it's not just Muslim countries that are anti-LGBQT. Many Eastern European and Church-centric countries in Latin America aren't exactly pro gay-rights either.

It's good he is speaking up but needs to have the same energy in other countries too.
