Why is Sir Lewis being compared to Ayrton?
Apart from being able to 'back in' a pre 2010s era F1 car to fastest lap or pole, they seem like fairly different characters.
People often like to compare drivers from different eras I suppose. And of course, Ayrton was always Lewis's personal F1 hero, when he was a kid. Apart from being able to 'back in' a pre 2010s era F1 car to fastest lap or pole, they seem like fairly different characters.

They love Lewis in Brazil. Actually, they have even made him an honourary citizen there.

As good as he is in the car, he possess about 1% of Senna's charisma out of the car.
It's a bit unfair to compare anyone with Senna in the charisma department... Ayrton appeared to have been beamed in from another planet. I certainly think Hamilton does have a charisma of his own though. He's definitely got an aura about him. Part of this comes from his outrageous achievements, but he also has that charismatic glow that iconic figures develop over time.GingerMunky said:
I agree he is improving, but that is because it suits his strategy for what is next after F1. The barometer will be if we see him guest commentating or involved in the paddock post retirement.
I think that is very unlikely. I reckon when he's retired from F1 we will rarely, if ever, see him at an F1 race again.paulguitar said:
How was he thinking about 'marketing' when he was eight?
Well he was 7 in this clip on national TV.https://youtu.be/knuYY8oiDZU

Horner, as has been pointed out before, somehow manages to both win and lose badly. I wonder if he will one day end up in mainstream UK politics? He seems to have a lot of the 'qualities' required.
He has. A nasty-minded piece of work..As for politics, you both would be eminently suitable for our current shower

Do either of you know him personally, or is this (again) your opinion based upon your quite obvious bias towards Hamilton, and putting a framework around your own agenda to double down on your ideals?
I have not met CH. My opinion of him as far as chatting here and amongst friends goes is based purely on his public words and actions. He has some input into how he chooses to present himself, and what he presents is often something of a slime bag.Appreciating Hamilton is not a lot to do with anything, other than perhaps accentuating the obvious difference in dignity they represent.

Do we think Lewis will overtake George in the points by the end of the year? I think he might do so, and that that might be his motivation for this year given the poor results for Mercedes.
Yes. He tends to go pretty well at the next two tracks and it does not seem like they are now using his car as a test bed..Jasandjules said:

He was asked about this recently and said that because they are placed 4th and 5th in the standings he's not hugely bothered but would be VERY bothered if they were fighting for the title. Not sure if he totally believes that, but given how reconciled he was early on when he was conducting the extreme setup experiments and carrying sensors on his car, perhaps he does. If he finished behind George in the standings it wouldn't really be fully representative of the season, but that's the way it goes sometimes I suppose.Edited by paulguitar on Monday 7th November 16:58

I have a feeling that next weekend could be the record-running win in Brazil, and that they’re prepared to turn the engine up to 11 to do it - at the same time as RB must be sh!tting themselves about the budget cap for the year.
I am hoping so too. A one off engine at full beans...... Edited by Sandpit Steve on Monday 7th November 15:14

I think he will finish just shy of George in the points but will have comfortable outperformed Russel for the majority of the season. Lewis haters will conveniently forget the test car setups and just fortis on the end points.

Lewis became an honorary citizen of Brazil today.
Arthur Lira, president of the Chamber of Deputies, also addressed him as an 'eight-time world champion'.
Amazing achievement. Arthur Lira, president of the Chamber of Deputies, also addressed him as an 'eight-time world champion'.
If only it were true about 8 titles though. He has 7. I hope he gets 8 though as I’ve always been a supporter of his.
