Arthur Lira, president of the Chamber of Deputies, also addressed him as an 'eight-time world champion'.
Where do you see that? I see it reported as 7 but they could be altered then syndicated feeds

I think he will finish just shy of George in the points but will have comfortable outperformed Russel for the majority of the season.

Actions speak louder than words, Horner has behaved despicably. RB were handed last year's championship by the FIA and have been handed this year's as well. You think the man would have the sense to STFU but he just can't help himself, lashing out at anyone who dares question what happened. Classic bully that goes well with his massive inferiority complex.
That’s a ‘no’ then.

Horner is lashing out because the two titles he's delivered to Max both have clouds over them... they'll never go away.

As others have said. Horner is a sore loser AND winner rofl

I think this is what has ruffled Horner and Max. Horner thought 2021 would "go away" after securing the 2022 WDC and WCC titles, but with the illegally of the cost cap the controversy and fiasco has come back to haunt them and doubled down. Hence the recent stompy-feet tantrums to the renewed interest in how RBR goes about "winning"..

I have no sympathy for Horner and, despite my understanding that he was only gifted the tools, my sympathy for Max is on a slippery emphatic slope, considering his comments regarding his view of what he has achieved, and how.

Amazing achievement.

If only it were true about 8 titles though. He has 7. I hope he gets 8 though as I’ve always been a supporter of his.
He’s got 7 titles but 8 championships.

It certainly won't be forgotten, it's settling in as being acknowledged as one of the sport's worst events, accidents aside. I'm still amazed at how Hamilton has been able to move on from it. Amazing mental strength.

I don't mind Hamilton but his idolizers really make me cringe and not want to be part of the support.

The grey clouds wont be remembered forever. Wikipedia wont mention what the FIA did those seasons.

He's very unlikely to win a race this season and probably never another championship - so just save yourself the heartbreak. I'd personally have been happier if he did retire last season in protest of how he didn't win the championship.

George has done a great job this season, yet no idolizers can appreciate it and come up with all sorts of excuses why Hamilton isn't above him on points. George is not a second driver like some times clearly have.

Mercedes have been given advantages over the years too. Particularly with their V6 engine development. Which IMO was more beneficial than the budget cap saga.

I've never seen a fanbase like it in any other sport. I've thoroughly enjoyed watching him over the years though.

Yes, it will.

I'm glad he stuck around. F1 would be massively less interesting without him.

Goerge has done a fantastic job and has actually been given a lot of credit for that here on PH and elsewhere. He's not as good as Hamilton, who has been dominant in the second half of the season.

The clouds will always be remembered, but only by F1 nerds (like us on this forum smile)
Bit like Schumacher's '94 title - non-F1 folk don't remember the detail but for F1 fans he always cheated.

I'd like for you to share some detail on this V6 engine advantage that Mercedes had and no other teams did? confused

Not to mention the sheer, incredible class he (and his father) showed to actually congratulate Max and Jos AFTER being robbed of a world record breaking 8th Championship.

He and Massa have displayed such amazing class in such circumstances, I hope I have even 1/10th of it.

I agree, although Massa of course was unlucky rather then robbed by an official.

It's literally the fourth paragraph on the Wikipedia page about the 2021 season.

Wikipedia said:
The season ended with a controversial finish, with the two title rivals for the drivers' crown entering the last race of the season with equal points. Verstappen sealed the title after winning the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix after a last-lap restart pass on Hamilton following a contentious conclusion of a safety car period. Mercedes initially protested the results, and later decided not to appeal after their protest was denied.[4] The incident led to key structural changes to race control, including the removal of Michael Masi from his role as race director and the implementation of a virtual race control room, who assist the race director.[5][6] Unlapping procedures behind the safety car were to be reassessed and presented by the F1 Sporting Advisory Committee prior to the start of the 2022 World Championship season.[7] On 10 March 2022 the FIA World Motor Sport Council report on the events of the final race of the season was announced, and that the "Race Director called the safety car back into the pit lane without it having completed an additional lap as required by the Formula 1 Sporting Regulations", however also noted that the "results of the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and the FIA Formula One World Championship are valid, final and cannot now be changed".[8][9]

I doubt there are many on here, particularly LH fans, who do not believe GR has done a stellar job this year. Agreed, he is no number 2, he is going to be the next MB number 1 after LH retires.

However, the first half of the season LH was trying more extreme set-ups to try to solve some of the issues, this is a widely know fact. GR has been fantastically consistent this year, but anybody can see that LH has been the better driver in the second half of the season when they have been on similar set-ups. So, yes, GR is ahead at the moment, but the gap could shrink to nothing, particularly when you consider LH is brilliant in Brazil.

LH fans wouldn’t be happy either way, unless their man won. In fact forget that F1 endured its most boring years with the Mercedes dominance and huge car advantage, perhaps we should just ban all and everyone who wins biggrin Last year wasn’t anyone’s fault but the officials, and if the roles had been reversed I very much doubt half of the LH fans would care, it’s just tribalism. As a spectacle F1 is pretty rubbish still, literally the only thing interesting is the fight between LH and MV. I watched ‘fans’ laugh as Schumacher broke his leg, you can’t help these people, same with some on PH. I’ve no sympathy for LH it’s racing and all that goes along with it…as he well knows wink

Good luck to him getting another title, but hopefully MV will come through again. Fingers crossed there’s more competition next season!
