Mercedes doesn't have a number one driver and never has. (Well, not since 1955, anyway!)
.
Hmm maybe not contractually, Bottas was asked to screw himself for Hamilton’s gain so much it became a running meme. .
Yeah, I’m going to need some examples of this “screwing himself”, outside of occasions where Hamilton was clearly in a championship battle and any team-mate would be expected to compromise their strategy to help him.

To say only Hamilton was the looser out of the car design early in the year is just rubbish.
Not at all. It makes an awful lot of sense. The team will not want to take the same high risk with both cars and went conservative with one of them. A classic risk mitigation strategy. For instance Bottas wasn’t as comfortable with the base set up of the Merc as Hamilton as it had been developed around Hamiltons driving style. With the 2022 car it was probably slightly beneficial for Russell that there was effectively ‘reset’ in terms of a base set up.
Regarding new parts, invariably Hamilton got the updates first if there was only one available and rightly so. For instance in Austria he got the only available new rear wing after both cars were rebuilt. In this case they say it improved the car and helped him in the race. A lot of updates and radical set ups didn’t work but invariably these were on both cars.

Is that not what we are talking about?
And on and on. Presumably these are not based on things that never happened?
The Merc team lets their drivers race. We've seen exactly that this season, We saw it repeatedly with Lewis and Nico. We saw it yesterday, FFS!And on and on. Presumably these are not based on things that never happened?
Of course, from time to time, if a WDC is on the line, common sense has prevailed and one driver will be asked to act in the interests of the team. To not do this would be patently stupid. But let's not pretend for a moment that Merc is anything like Schumacher-era Ferrari or any era Red Bull. Because that would be bks.

Vettel doesn't do it whilst standing atop his private jet with an entourage of ostentatious rap stars in tow.
Not sure why I subjected myself to several pages of this thread, but wow, just wow.By 'rap stars' you are presumably referring to the Olympic medalist fencer and the music producer Lewis is most frequently seen with?
But, er, it's not about race, right?

My cockwomble of the day is Joe Lycett. But I guess I'll now be accused of homophobia?
Oh this should be good, why is Joe Lycett a cockwomble? (and not David Beckham?)Given how intimiately Lycett has currently linked himself to the LGBT cause versus whoring himself out for oil money then what's he done to make you think he's a cockwomble?

But then he added in the real bile about thhe ostentatious rap stars.
Inferrence and tone come across so well when people reveal the real target.

RB compromise their second driver so much they've never had a 1-2 in the WDC, instead of letting driver 2 give way to the first one they'll just put them on insane long stints and the link just to help the first driver out - and basically from the start of the season too. I think it was race 2 they already messed up Perez this year? Or was that Ferrari?Of course, from time to time, if a WDC is on the line, common sense has prevailed and one driver will be asked to act in the interests of the team. I've just seen Max's turn into Hamilton as Lewis drove past during quali.
It's on Twitter. What on earth was he trying to do?

This is an odd thread.
If you're a fan of F1, how can you dislike any of the drivers?
If you’re a fan of music, how can you dislike Liam Gallagher, or Morrissey? If you're a fan of F1, how can you dislike any of the drivers?
F1 is just one category of one type of sport.
I’m not saying people shouldn’t have favourites, but actually disliking someone in a sport you love is weird.

A bit weird indeed. I feel sorry for Max in a way as he is under the influence of his Dad, Horner and Helmut. That's a lot for just one person. You easily lose your sense of perspective. It's on Twitter. What on earth was he trying to do?

So amusing how the Redbull fanbois hate Hamilton, letting him live rent free in their heads.
Still, when their guy is a tarnished racer with huge question marks over both his titles it's understandable that they are grouchy.
If this is in response to me your presumptions are miles off. I’m not a Red Bull or Max fan. For the millionth time of stating, because for some reason it is used against me in the F1 forums, my username has nothing to do with Max, Red Bull or even F1 at all. Still, when their guy is a tarnished racer with huge question marks over both his titles it's understandable that they are grouchy.
