Just to throw my opinion into the ring... I really like Crofty, yes he's a bit over the top, but I am sure that's what he has been told to do to help make F1 more appealing/exciting to newer viewers.
Paul Di Resta on the other hand is my absolute least favourite person on television.
Crofty doesn't really bother me either way, we've certainly had a lot worse presenters in the past. Paul Di Resta on the other hand is my absolute least favourite person on television.
I agree about Paul Di Resta though, he really is annoying.
The OP seems overly biased and protective of an unpopular viewpoint.

That's probably because most people are likely not bothered by him either way, so don't post on the internet. A few who do like to complain are on here.
It's a more clued-up set of people here, certainly. He's a good fit for something like darts, it's likely their viewers would not object to his F1 screaming.Adrian W said:

I think it’s when he commentates on the actual wheel to wheel racing that he gives away he has no feel for motorsport. Early in the race yesterday when LH was behind tsunoda, Hamilton deliberately ran a wider line to get a better exit and have more grip through the turn. Croft exclaimed that Hamilton had run wide.

Yes, exactly right. I get the impression that the only motorsport he’s ever been anywhere near as a participant is literally the lawnmower-engined karting thing organized by Sky a few years ago. He has zero understanding of the ins and outs of wheel-to-wheel racing. It’s this complete ignorance, coupled with the relentless, unnecessary shouting that are the biggest problems.I watched most of the race yesterday with the sound muted and got background info from the thread on here and the BBC live updates. This has become the norm, especially at races where Croft is alongside Di Resta, in the duo from hell show. Jenson was okay, I thought.

Not just me that went ffs at that moment then! ‘Going for the old Switch-a-roo’
As someone said before, he thinks he is the new voice of motor racing, especially with the annoying ‘lights out and away we go’ script up on wall in his house. Painful.

Whereas DC on C4 got it spot on and said that's the karting line to give him more speed on the exit (or something similar - I'm paraphrasing).I have access to Sky Go on my phone through a helpful relative, but generally don't bother and just wait for the C4 highlights as their coverage is generally so much better - Alex Jacques has also improved quite a bit since he started I reckon.
Looks like it's DiResta unfortunately.
The F1 weekend warmup was equally terrible on YouTube, five minutes of inane (and VERY camp) conversation which had nothing to do with F1.
I would pay a lot of money to see James Hunt interviewed by Lawrence Baretto!

Hopefully Brundle is back to keep him under control this weekend
Apologies if this is already answered elsewhere in the F1 section guys, is Brundle only contracted for a set number of races these days or something? Is there a list of which ones or is he winding down towards retirement?EVLATECOMER said:

He’s normally missed a couple of races in recent seasons (think his contract is for 18 weekends, which was the season when he joined up), but seems to have been absent for half a dozen or so this year. Maybe he’s happy to wind down a little as the years pass - he’s 62 now, has had a long career as both a driver and commentator, is unlikely to need the money, and would prefer to spend his time on other things in life than racking up air miles and hotel points.
