Croft has to go

I keep imagining Croft at home commentating loudly on his wife's progress as she makes a roast dinner.
'Oven door wide open!!!!'I should stay away from this thread. I can generally ignore the 'Croftisms', but the proclaiming of 'DRS wide open!!' at every opportunity really grates on me. It can only be open or closed, wide open suggests there is some kind of controlable element to it.

I feel sorry for anyone who genuinely can't stand his style of presentation or whose knowledge of F1 is so great that its clear to them that half of what he says is complete drivel.
I am happy to wallow in my ignorance and enjoy his exciting presentation style - I really like it. Goodness knows it would be utterly boring if it was just JB commentating on his own.
There - I have said it!

I've been watching for a very long time, but I am WAY less clued up on strategy/tyres and suchlike than some people posting online, but he still regularly makes me wince with his ignorance. I think the main problem for me though is the screaming and seeming inability to stop for even a few moments as if somehow it will all fall apart if he's not making noise. Then there's Paul Di Resta. I mean seriously, who decided to give that guy a TV job? It's utterly ridiculous.
I'm ambivalent about Croft but am surprised at the hate on this thread.
He gets excited, sure, but so did the late, great Murray Walker. Look at Japan 1990 for that one with the infamous "It's happened immediately!" line.
What's more, we all loved Murray for that enthusiasm. Would we rather a monotone delivery.
Mistakes.....again, Mr Walker was revered for them?
I'm just happy it's better than the dark days of Jonathan Ledgard or >shudder<.......James Allen.

Great youtube channel here with old F1 races being regularly uploaded. He gets excited, sure, but so did the late, great Murray Walker. Look at Japan 1990 for that one with the infamous "It's happened immediately!" line.

It's excellent to hear Murray and James again, and I think most people would agree after listening to a couple of those that Murray is on a different planet to Croft. Actually the commentaries, and in particular the intros to the shows are better than I remember them from first time around.

You are right about Jonathan Ledgard and James Allen (and Paul Di Resta) they really were awful.
