Oddly, Rosberg is the closest we have to Hunt now - is a world champion and not afraid to really speak his mind!

I'd like to see Vettel commentating after he retires. Though, somehow I don't seeing him working on (UK) TV.

More's the pity.

Seb would indeed be a good pundit. As with Nico he’s too successful and wealthy to care what anyone thinks about him.

Unlike Nico, I have a feeling he’ll find a driving job elsewhere, he’d be very high on the list of anyone entering a factory team in the new Le Mans Hypercars.

Surely though the law of averages suggests it's almost impossible to do worse than Croft? I mean, seriously, who could really do a worse job? As to who could replace Croft, there's the bloke who does the Channel 4 commentary, he's hugely better for a start.

I was overseas for pretty much all of the Legard years and didn't get to witness it really. I do remember some occasional lines, such as stuff like 'that's not what he would want' when someone was upside down and on fire.

Hunt for the next Commentator.
He’s done it before and he’s dead, but he’d be an improvement.

It's a good job the cars are painted different colours although he still manages to get drivers of the same team confused!!

Is he Monegasque by any chance? The knob on Ch4 is always getting that in there.

Think we're being a little unfair on Crofty. He's got a tough job of keeping people tuned in, even when there's not much going on during a race.

Granted. But he couldn't identify George instead of Lewis. That is basic.

Then coming out with the inters suggestion at the end...

I was a supporter of him against the detractors, but I'm beginning to see their point.
