Ted is rambling a bit more these days, less behind the scenes news and gossip and more rambling, correcting himself and re-explaining stuff.

But I still watch the Notebook as I tend not to watch Ted, but what’s going on in the background, who’s wandering around, who’s talking to who, the packing up, etc.

Even Murray started talking far too much, let's be honest he might have trotted out that mantra a lot but he was no advocate of not talking. As James used to often be the one who was able to say the fewest words with the most meaning.

Croft is simply dreadful, over rated, over paid, believes his own hype which is the ultimate in crassness and is simply a man given far too much money as you can tell from his massive weight gain, and far too much scope. He is like a budget, cheap comedian who tells bad taste jokes and tries to get away with it, he was probably a bully. He is that family member who everyone has to put up with but everyone hates. We all know people like this yet somehow the idiot is still in a job

The whole team needs a shakeup, they are all tired old men, especially Brundle who even comes across as bored most of the time when I even get around to watching Formula Bore.

But SkY will do nothing, they think "Crofty" (SIC) is somehow good, they believe in him, so your only option is to let them know how much you loath him, send in complaints, bh, otherwise you will suffer him for another 10 bloody years and he will start calling himself the bloody voice of F1.

Agreed - no matter what they're talking about, somehow it always seems to be about themselves.

I think he has been like that for ages; it used to be a half informative program but as mentioned before it just seems like disjointed ramblings now.

Not entirely sure why he gets airtime now.
Sky F1 seriously needs a refresh with a clean sheet of paper.

Scarbs used to pop up in Sky's coverage but he's been lost to F1TV. Sam Collins is great well liked across the board no matter how geeky or whether you have an F1 related STEM degree or not.

There's some excellent stuff on F1TV with Scarbs, Sam Collins and Albert Fabrega

It would be great if Sky went into more technical stuff, but I guess the majority of viewers probably don't care.

I’m no engineer, racing driver or had any background in motor racing. However I’ve followed motor racing for 30yrs plus now, so I feel I have a very good understanding and knowledge of F1.

What frustrates me most with the coverage is that I never learn anything new from the ‘expert’ pundits. It just feels dumbed down.

Croft is just painful.

Notebook used to be brilliant but Ted has become a ‘character’. Where he used to do the odd natural ramble it’s become too contrived. I don’t know whether it is just me, but it looks like people dislike him in the paddock (including the rest of the sky team), similar to when you see ‘that’ irritating person at work who you’d really rather not get stuck talking to.

Whole team needs a refresh, some new approaches. Definitely quality over quantity of coverage.

I watch from gridwalk to podium and generally cut out the rest of the waffle, going back to the first comment that I rarely learn anything from it.

Had to chuckle at Naomi Schiff making comparisons or relating to the race prep of Gasly who was doing some reaction warm up on the grid. I’m sure the VW Fun cup was a very similar level.

Nothing new I’m afraid nowadays as TV is now awash with Drivel Vision that is scripted from start to finish.
F1 coverage has now gone down the same path & all those who work in there know not to step out of line or they will soon be history.

As you all know they stood back last year and never said a word yet the fans / viewers / internet exploded at the travesty, so for me its the highlights at best and not a moment before or after.

Thing that grated most today. ‘Xyz struggles for traction out turn 4’ (when racing some other car).

Seriously, not a part of the traction where traction is an issue. It’s a very high speed corner. The slow exit was because xyz (forget who) entered the corner from the inside of the track, because the car they were racing was on the racing line.

Croft - it keeps being made clear - doesn’t understand racing.

Croft only understands darts, not that I’ve ever heard his darts commentary

There I am slating Croft and then he gets all incredibly technical with jargon I just don’t understand.

Driver pulls off a move on fresher tyres and we get……. ‘that’s no problem for him, his tyres are stickier than a stick’. (Little satisfied chuckle to himself)

I feel like a novice F1 fan now, I just don’t understand this technical stuff.

I've mentioned this before but...F1 TV. Easy (and cheap) via VPN and officially signing up via the App.

Considering it's an 'official' commentary it really is excellent and they don't pull any punches. Laid into the FIA, race control (and Max!) yesterday with no hesitation when they felt justified in doing so, so I have no concerns that they're pushed to follow official lines or to not paint their ultimate paymasters in a bad light.

However my favourite thing is that they don't treat viewers like idiots, there was no building false anticipation for the last 10 laps with Hamilton behind Russell, no dramatic raising of volume for every overtake or the chequered flag etc.

Crofty on top form yesterday. When MB asked Russel if he wanted softs or mediums for the final stint Crofty got it completely wrong and Brundle had to explain to him what "copy" meant and that George was saying no to mediums! What a pathetic waste of space that man is!
I thought he was going to have a heart attack on the first lap as his inane shouting reached a record level!!

It's not Red Bull that's toxic. There's a certain section of fans (including some Red Bull fans) that are toxic.
Horner, Marko, and Jos are pretty much the definition of toxic, I reckon.
One does actually sometimes feel quite sorry for MV, given his three main influencers.

That said, his driving this year has improved considerably compared to years past; maybe after eight seasons, and with a very competitive car, he’s finally growing up on the track.
Agreed, he's been much better this season. He's not had to deal with Lewis Hamilton though.

Well, this aged badly!

I just find, on the odd occasion that I watch him, that it feels like he's spending so much of his slots filling for time.

Lots of mumbling, sentences that start but don't end. The odd bit of insight is lovely, but it feels like Sky F1 bosses have said "here's something people are watching, let's give it loads more airtime". They didn't seem to realise that he didn't have enough content to fill more airtime.
