Croft has to go
Discussion
Yesterday, i tried to watch the sky coverage because it was on much earlier. Stopped and watched c4 later instead.
Normally, when the PH jury are harsh on an f1 pundit, i find it a little underserved, especially since i used to rate crofty's practice session coverage. When hid he change style.to just shout shout shout?

I thought that he had tried to tone it down a bit yesterday.
Same hereHe actually talked for some bits !
Maybe he reads PH.
Maybe it’s adrenaline or 10 coffees that gets him so hyped come showtime.

He actually sounds a normal, quite entertaining person during practices.

I agree about free practice sessions however, his main input then is conjecture moreMaybe it’s adrenaline or 10 coffees that gets him so hyped come showtime.
than critical information that is NOT just who has driven the fastest lap, but the average lap times for different compounds and fuel loads. These seem to get missed, most of the time. Ted needs to tell us who is running development bits etc.
My assumption is that it is the SKY production team that demand this “pumped-up” performance when the bigger numbers of viewers are watching for Qually and the race. So, perhaps, it is one of them that is getting to understand that his performance detracts for their long-standing customers.
He still talks tosh a lot of the time. Karun had to put him down just before the start yesterday, perhaps it was that, that made the difference.

So whaddya reckon?
a) he wanted too much money for new contract
b) he needs / wants to spend more time with family
c) he’s got an illness and wants to spend time at home
d) someone else has poached him
Obviously in response to this very thread Sky have poached him to replace Croft!a) he wanted too much money for new contract
b) he needs / wants to spend more time with family
c) he’s got an illness and wants to spend time at home
d) someone else has poached him
Or he has a personal problem or just won the lottery and has pissed off
Most likely he's 55 and has calculated he has the money to go and relax, no more pressure require.

I've always like Edwards. I expect he's planning on taking it a bit easier.
Amazing to think that Murray Walker didn't become a full time F1 commentator until he had actually RETIRED!
The difference being that MW used to spend a fair number of the long-haul races sitting in a studio in London, watching it on TV! Amazing to think that Murray Walker didn't become a full time F1 commentator until he had actually RETIRED!
I can quite imagine that many of the elder gentlemen of the paddock are looking at a 23-race calendar, with a lot of long-haul flying and weeks away from home at a time, and thinking that’s not for them any more. The last couple of season Brundle (60) has taken a couple of strategic weekends off towards the end of the season.
(All speculative bks of course, it could be that Sky have signed him to replace David Croft!)
Lots of travel then no access to F1 circus due to covid restrictions even if at the track. Otherwise sat in a cubicle in the uk.
BE leaving C4 is probably the first casualty of WFH. The job is just not the same. Suddenly you are in the same sea of F1 'experts' that
also sit at home just regurgitating snippets of news they come across.
