Croft has to go

I don't have major issue with Croft or Brundle doing the commentary. What I do have a major issue with is the amount of mistakes that they make which confuses things. Sometimes it takes them quite a while to realise and just results in major eye rolling while watching the race.
I think they need some younger sharper people, that can actually distinguish Bono's voice telling George he has a puncture rather than mistaking it for Valterri's engineer who has a totally different voice. So many mistakes like this recently when they are commentating and say something is happening to one car when it is actually happening to the other car on the team.
It wasnt just bonos voice. The graphic even said George Russell so that was so stupid of both of them . Yes they are british and yes they wanted George to win but the excitement got the better of them.I think they need some younger sharper people, that can actually distinguish Bono's voice telling George he has a puncture rather than mistaking it for Valterri's engineer who has a totally different voice. Just like in silverstone when they said lewis had a puncture but it was bottas or the othet way around i cant remember exactly

But the worst has to be him always mentioning the AWS crap. I know amazon pay alot but its so forced by croft it makes him sound so stupid.
Try watching IndyCar. Not only is every onboard camera sponsored by a different company (who is mentioned by the commentators) but every time they mention the Firestone tyres they say some line from the adverts like "official supplier to Indycar since" or "tyres for the road ahead"Mr_Thyroid said:

In fairness channel 4 made exactly the same mistakecarl_w said:

Weirdly enough I learnt to just blur all that out in my ears and don't really notice it as apposed to croft's screaming voice which is like a knife to the eardrum. PaulWoof said:

Considering its a highlights show after the race this seems really lazy.
It was obvious bottas was sent out on the same old hard tyres he had come in to swap and yet coultard and co joined the baying uninformed public in heaping the abuse as he slipped back.
I predict a massive fk you to the camera if he does well on sunday lol.

Croft is reasonably knowledgeable, however he is no Murray Walker and never will be.
Apart from being head of the Lewis Hamilton and GREAT BRITISH DRIVERS sycophants Society, his most annoying habit is constant use of the completely redundant / unnecessary term, ".....ever so much indeed" he tacks on to the end of all conversations with Team principals et al.
ALL that is necessary is for him to just say "Thanks Christian".. or to whom ever. That's all !!. Nothing else!!!
The rest is just padding. This sort of constant repetition is very poor use of the English language.
It beats me why his producers don't pull him up on it and tell him to be more succinct and varied in his delivery. Perhaps they had the same suspect education, or have forgotten what little they did learn at school?
There is a vast audience out there forced to listen to this drivel, because we love our sport.

croft is an interchangeable sports commentator who's covered a range of sports tasked currently with f1. He's swotted up enough that he sounds knowledgeable enough to a passer by but that's just professional conduct. To us fans who've followed and build a groundwork of knowledge its just a bit flimsy and patronising. His delivering said spiel as excitable shouting just exacerbates or muliplies it, compared to say davide valsecchi where the excitement is much more tolerable because the guy knows what he talking about.Apart from being head of the Lewis Hamilton and GREAT BRITISH DRIVERS sycophants Society, his most annoying habit is constant use of the completely redundant / unnecessary term, ".....ever so much indeed" he tacks on to the end of all conversations with Team principals et al.

Controversial opinion, I don't mind him as much when I occasionally watch practice sessions where the brief is often to generate commentary from nothing at all, a.k.a, talk sh!t.

Agreed, a mitigating factor and a lot less irritating in the free practice sessions but still has the odd moment.iandc said:
The Sky team certainly share the shouty reputation of Croft. One of them joked there was a new scent being launched by Croft called "Full Volume"!!
I heard that and it gave me a chuckle, I also heard Ant telling him about peak load in one of the corners being 5.7g, and then saying that's 5.7 times your body weight, imagine the load you'd generate through there Crofty.... He might as well have added you fat bd to the end of it. I thought it was a little uncalled for, but I laughed out of shock as much as anything else.
