I don't enjoy "Crofty"'s commentary - the shouting, the mistakes, all the things that others have mentioned. However, it must be a phenomenally difficult job - for all his faults, remember the stats he comes up with at a moment's notice. He is there to engage the casual viewer. For all those calling for a Brundle/Coulthard or Brundle/Webber or Coulthard/Webber, I just don't think it would work for most viewers, having two drivers talking at a technical level. The driver/"layman" combo works well for most people.

You mean the ones he has written down on a crib sheet in front of him? I guess it shows that he can read out loud when he's prompted to.

Watching last weekend Anniversary GP on Sky had to turn the sound down for the race as Crofty is too uncomfortable to listen to.
The pitch of Crofty's voice, and the shouting is just too much to put up with.

Watched the same race again, the highlights on CH4. This time did not have to turn the sound down,
and it was very enjoyable to watch and still be able hear the sound of the cars driving around the track.

Crofty always sounds like his pants are on fire.
I wish Sky would get rid of him, or swap with Karun.

Karun and Brundle commentating would be great.

Karun isn't much better. I wouldn't want to listen to him for a whole race.

Paul di Resta or Button would be better.

Croft just asking why the RBR brake discs were glowing on the straight. Moron.

Karun had to point out what was obvious to rest of the world; the Red Bull colours were reflecting off the inside edge/rim of the wheel. banghead

Crofty currently insisting rach defaces some seatnames in the grandstand. As a throwaway comment fine but he's been going on about this jape for the last 15 minutes.
Encourages similar behaviour by other idiotic tourists.
But does it matter?
Well imagine murray Walker suggesting similar immature banality.

Watching FP1 Crofty is talking fairly normally by his standards.

If he was talking like this during a race it would just be bearable, apart from all his mistakes.

At Silverstone he said there is Barry Sheene's car, while walking past his racing bike. rolleyes

You must be watching something else. I’ve never heard such a pile of absolute ste from a commentary team.

Croft’s ranting about how to change things are the work of a tiny mind and for Chandok to refer to ‘the sanctity’ of an F1 race is quite unbelievable, by any definition of the word.

They’ve lost it completely and they’re literally ceaseless yapping is awful.

As for Herbert; he’s never been the sharpest knife in the drawer but why doesn’t he just, ‘sort of’, shut up?

I'd rather they got rid of Johnny Herbert. A man who howls with laughter when another man spills milk in his lap.

Rather have the bbc five live guy on then crofty

He is making far too many mistakes and he looks at the screen pictures we get on our tv.

Also the need to drum up excitement when a race is boring is getting silly...eg the silverstone gp he and brundle kept repeating the same thing, trying to make the race seem exciting when we all know it wasnt until the end.

Even then when hamilton came on screen with degraded tyre croft thought he was going through the finishing line saying 'hamilton is going to win on three wheel' yet it wasnt even the finish line

The high pitchness is terrible at the start or any safety car restart...i mean in football the commentators make you feel the emotion of scoring a last min goal where as croft makes a last min overtake sound so painful.

Shame there is no one else atleast brundle brings a bit of balance...my nightmare is when its croft and di resta together for the race...sheeesh

Crofty is now white noise for me, but yes he does need to go and he can take Paul Di Resta the most miserable man alive with him, he's just woeful, imagine winning a race to be greeted by someone so droll, just sucks all the life out of everything.

Quite funny, Nico pointing out how little Croft is aware of. They should put him on with Martin, dump Croft.

Crofty and Paul Di Resta are like Chris Rabbit from Henry's Cat, paired with Eyore. Agree they can both go.

I'm pleasantly surprised by Rosberg's commentary.

Although he's clearly a very affable guy, I've found him hard to like due to his cheesy, somewhat Tigger-ish personality. However, in the commentary box he's been a breath of fresh air.

Nico doing an excellent job on commentary, quite funny seeing a rank amateur doing a much more professional job than a so called professional.

And there you have it.

A lot of Brits will dislike Nice for obvious reasons, but he is intelligent, funny, quick and a decent chap.

And please remember English is not his first language here guys! That makes the usual morons look a bit dour does it not?
