Croft has to go
Discussion
Since this thread has now broadened to all sky presenters...
Lawrence Baretto this season started to co-present with Will Buxton. I didn't really know much about the guy so I googled him... he has no wikipedia page but this came up instead: https://celebsaga.com/is-lawrence-barretto-indian-...
This was the highlight and point at which I realised I wasn't going to learn anything at all about him on any level
Just WTF....
(I've persevered and since learned that he's written for various sporting disciplines and imo he writes very well. Just sharing the above gem as it's shamefully terrible yet oddly hilarious)

Not technically Sky presenters, I believe they work for F1TV and as interviews are pooled due to Covid so pop up on the Sky feed or the Qually / Race top three interviews.Lawrence Baretto this season started to co-present with Will Buxton. Ahh makes sense - I wondered why I was suddenly seeing him on TV, hence googled him. I've read his F1.com articles for ages now on the site.It got very bad at the end of qualifying.
I know Norris had a great performance and he's British so even more to get excited about for British viewers but dear God it was bad, I genuinely grimaced at one stage due to how loud he was shouting, completely ignoring that everyone had gone slower on their last lap!

She is terrible too, the worst kind of gutter press approach.
Last week or may have been week before she was about to interview Toto who apologised because his voice was starting to go and she said that he sounded even more like Arnie. He didn’t even respond. It is bad enough that Croft has to yell down the microphone when something mildly exciting is happening on track, but his latest trait of having an orgasm on air every time something mundane happens like Max getting into his car is making F1 unwatchable. Can you imagine him commentating on a chess match
The thing is they all live and work in a massively insular world, bubbled to hell, I wouldn't want to do it, I would not work in f1 if you paid me twice my salary, I would work at a factory but not all the travel and I dont even have a family, there is NOTHING enjoyable about it to me personally as a carer either in media or within a team, unless you are driving!!
But in that world, you don't see out, and you have to get excited about anything as you don't know any different. |You live this odd little sport.
The rest of us, with numerous series at our disposal, well that's a different story, which is why the increasing interest in current f1 always astounds me, there really is SO much better stuff to watch out there!

And yet you're a fairly prolific poster here.Inexplicable.
Exactly, why watch and comment on a sport when you think there is SO much better stuff to watch?!

Crikey we are all a right miserable bunch when you read our comments back.
Bin off Di Resta though, he's really is bad.
Because he (croft) is absolutely abysmal. He said something last week I forget what but I had to turn to my wife and check because it made no sense and revealed his complete void of technical understanding. Okay he's a lead commentator be doesn't have to know the intricacies but the man's a charlatan who just shouts and blags it and finds amazons graphics impressive wheras any half awake fan finds them a condescending attempt to trivialise the technical-understanding aspect of the sport.Bin off Di Resta though, he's really is bad.
We fully follow the F1, MotoGP, BSB, WSK, BTCC and a lot of the support features that have different and sometimes rotating commentary, and watch tons of other Motorsport albeit with less commitment but ranging from grass roots made-for-50p to big budget global series that think they're all that, and I've yet to find a commentator as grating as croft. I suppose maybe James Allen or Johnathan legard were also absolutely stinking awful. Why do they do this?
