Er chaps there isn’t a C Type in the world or a vaguely comp spec XK120 that *isnt* thoroughly and comprehensively used hard! That certainly includes both mentioned as I’ve watched them first hand.
Almost everything historic and competition is used these days. The value rises that events such as Goodwood, Silverstone, Spa, etc have driven have simply made it happen. And long may it continue.
I think you may have posted in the wrong thread...
You lost me there, or am I missing a whoosh parrot? I was responding about the Fangio C Type and Moss XK120.

I remember, probably about a decade now, one of the aluminium E-Types (ince raced by Hill iirc) getting really badly bent at one historic event. I'm not sure I'd enjoy caning something from an era when even Volvos were dangerous!

They are worth so much they can always be fixed.

It's true. The bodywork guy next to my place has had the same race cars coming back to be bent back in to shape for years! He's also had a mk1 Bugatti that comes back to him each time it changes collection to be further 'restored' - he reckons it's probably better at this point than it was when sold originally..

Did a load of cars and replicas for the Rush movie too smile

James Hunt had an A35 Van (Countryman conversion) that he enjoyed and said he loved drifting it on the Elephant and Castle roundabout.
I bet the back of that van was busy with Hunt as the owner. It must have gone through some rear springs over the years! bounce

Nico Hulkenburg appears to be a Porsche fan. He turned up in a 911 GT2 RS at his stand-in race recently.
I think he had it from Porsche after winning Le Mans. Nick Tandy also got his hands on one and if memory serves me correctly then I believe they were personalised to each driver somehow to commemorate their success which is a nice touch.

He bought it privately from Keke Rosberg. At least that's what Nico Rosberg said in the Sky commentary when he turned up for that race at Nurburgring.

Love the number plate too.

I believe Webber also owned a very rare RHD 997.2 GT2 RS even before he joined Porsche as a works driver. Would have been I guess 2009/10.

There is one standout in this, a man who only entered one GP: Andre Lotterer. He's a total petrolhead. Anyone who uses a Sport Quattro as his daily driver has to be a proper enthusiast:

He mentions a few of his cars in this interview:

Damn, and in thought he couldn't get any cooler
