I know it's early days, but Leclerk seems to be getting to grips with the Ferrari, or should that be the Ferrari back end getting to grips with the tarmac.

Late to the season, and about time, but good to see. The guy's doing well it seems.

Derrick, why do you insist on calling him “Leclerk”?

I might assume that circuits/organisers would pay less to F1 for 2 days rather than 3 Or am I not living in a real world ? smile
It might be that most circuits operate at a loss on Friday so will be better off anyway. I don't know.
It depends a lot on the circuit, the crowd, the support races and a bunch of other factors.

It would be pretty much impossible to run a full weekend program of F1, F2 and F3 in only two days, for example. Places like Silverstone have 50,000 people turn up on Friday and have even seen events on Thursdays before. Ditto the city street circuit events, which turn into a week-long festival with a lot of inbound tourism.

As a way of running triple headers all over Europe though, it might prove useful to F1 and some promotors. The teams are going to have to live with it, and staff themselves accordingly.

I'm a touch typist and both fast and clean. I started way back in the 60s. It means I have muscle memory. It's hard to change from clerk to clerc after such a long time. It feels 'wrong'. He should change the spelling of his name.

Lewis was so confident in that interview before the break.

"what are you missing from this morning?"

"nothing. nothing at all, we know the performance, we know the tyres and the runs"

There was nothing wrong with the original track limits. Not the FIA’s fault that the drivers can’t keep inside the field of play.

Agreed; from memory neither Max nor Lewis lost any laps this morning (at least not ones where they were doing quali practice), so it's possible to be quick and stay on the track + who cares if a load of deleted laps from drivers who can't go quick while staying on the track & not fighting for pole get deleted and create a mixed up grid.

Err, but its a totally different word or is it the case whenever the the sequence c-l-e-r comes up, you have to follow it with a 'k'?

Great time from Leclerc to briefly lead the field. Today looks very close all the way down the grid.

In principle why do the front runners go out again at this point? There is no way Hamilton and Verstappen for example won't get through so why do they go out again?

(Note: I realise that at this particular circuit they probably want the extra track time, but they seem to always go out again towards the end of Q1 and Q2 and I don't understand why.)

Less than a second covers 3rd to 19th. Closest field of the season by a mile.

I guess when it comes down to thousandths of a second, everything counts.

And the gap from 2nd to 3rd is the same as 3rd to 15th.
