I know it's early days, but Leclerk seems to be getting to grips with the Ferrari, or should that be the Ferrari back end getting to grips with the tarmac.

Late to the season, and about time, but good to see. The guy's doing well it seems.
Derrick, why do you insist on calling him “Leclerk”?
I'm a touch typist and both fast and clean. I started way back in the 60s. It means I have muscle memory. It's hard to change from clerk to clerc after such a long time. It feels 'wrong'. He should change the spelling of his name.
So if you had to type the name Clark you type Clerk ?

In principle why do the front runners go out again at this point? There is no way Hamilton and Verstappen for example won't get through so why do they go out again?

(Note: I realise that at this particular circuit they probably want the extra track time, but they seem to always go out again towards the end of Q1 and Q2 and I don't understand why.)
I guess when it comes down to thousandths of a second, everything counts.
But the fastest drivers frequently have multiple tenths in hand (e.g. today Hamilton had nearly half second).

No, he types Clunge.

I know where he's coming from, my fingers do the same sometimes. Best countered by reading what I've typed, but I don't always manage it, on occasions it's only inflicted on others. smile

Mediums for Mercedes, as expected.

Ferraris and RBs on them too, hope Vettel remembers what happened last time out?

It’s a combination of having the tyres anyway, and guarding against the track suddenly becoming a second faster for everyone.

Max in trouble, back in for a ctrl-alt-del.

To put the speed of the current cars into context, last time F1 raced at Imola, in 2006, Schumacher was on pole with a time of 1:22.8.

I thought putting vettel on mediums was a bit optimistic.

Looking a bit better for MV. Both RBs with just the one run to go.

This could be an epic midfield battle.

They had an extra chicane then though.

Vettel 13th, half a tenth faster than the Williams!

Edit: Vettel’s time deleted, he starts behind Russell! redface

Good track, terrible 'Track Limits' nonsense...

Verstappen's done well with a single lap and Russell being so close to getting into Q3 surely deserves some credit..

Yep, both very impressive. GR just continues to reinforce my belief he's the real deal, can't wait to see him in a fast car

Not that close at the front. MV 7/10ths off pole.

If you were going to put money on someone losing a time it would have been Albon .
