Indeed it is - but it doesn't have to be.

ok, I only saw it on the Nowtv upgrades and that choice isn't available just the £33 and £5.99 options (in my account anyway).
You do it on the App Store

https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/sky-sports-mobile-tv...

Those that use F1 TV via a VPN. What is the commentary etc like? Is it still the sky team? Also, do you have to watch it live or can you watch it delayed?

It’s Crofty and co but F1 tv don’t show the bits where they cut away to Ted or Sky pad.

You can watch live or delayed. (If you delayed it’s 22£ pa) point your vpn at the USA after the session has finished.

You also have the option of watching the pit lane channel

Which has Alex Jacques (new c4 commentator) and Alex Brundle.

You can watch live or delayed, you can pause go forwards back wards or onboard with any driver at any time.

Data channel

You can also design your own screen, if your computer literate.

I tend to watch on sky, and have the pit lane channel playing on my tablet (with sound), and have another screen with the data/tracker and timing on my phone.

Daft laddy F1TV questions:

Assuming I use a VPN directed at the US

If I have the pro, is it like netflix or DAZN (for the boxing) where you click on a race and watch it either live or on demand? Can I pause a live race? Do all of the camera angles and radio etc work when using on demand or after you've paused it?

I'm assuming it does?

Also with the TV Access one (so not live), again is it on demand or is it shown at a set time?

Just trying to get a handle on how user friendly it is. I always tend to watch a race with a slight delay as there's inevitably 10 laps of boredom that I can scroll through.

Thanks for that great reply.

On the points above. What is there to watch before and after races? Any build up stuff/interviews etc?

If I paid the full £60 PA (or whatever it is) I assume I can watch live or delayed? So if I miss the start by 10 mins I can just watch 10 mins behind?

Will Buxton does a pre and after show.

And yes you can dip in when ever you want.

That cheaper non uk F1TV option seems to indicate that full race replays are after 2 days according to the F1TV site. Who cares about old news by then.
Also can you mirror to a TV from an apple phone? Im not aware of the F1TV app being on TVs. Who wants to watch on a tiny phone screen.
Mirror function exists on proper OS like android but is it allowed for F1TV ?
Meanwhile the sky app for UK may be an option but do we have ability to play on full size TV? Doubt it as they wouldnt sell many TV packages.
C4 it is for me as once the event is over the sky/f1tv channels tread water till the next race. Its not like football which has multiple games every day.
Make the sub price for f1 seem even more stupid.

If in USA (vpn) replays are instant with the 20£ version.

You can mirror, but the phone mirroring won’t handle the frame rate, casting is not an option at the moment, but will be later as will Apple air play.

If your tv has a browser you can sign in

Apple TV will have an app for this season, roku and chromcast also ok.

You can run a HDMI from a Mac/Pc to the tv as well.

F1 tv is 1080p and 50 FPS.

It’s not 4k on Sky q.

Thanks Deesee. I do remember having a poor experience with Btsport motogp mirrored to my TV. Must have been the frame rate I guess.

No worries, I ‘borrow’ my mum and dads BT sport (in return for a Sky Go slot on my mum and dads Mac (they have sky sports through BT TV in there living room, but that’s a story for another day!!)

If you have an Apple TV box, you can air play via an iphone or iPad which too me is a decent good picture and sound, (Arsenal fan, and Moto GP so have done this lots) and fully comparible with a HD broadcast.

One thing I did pick up, was to ensure that the as many devises as possible were hard cabled to the router, and in the case of my internet provider (Vodafone) separate the wifi channels if they can not be hard wired, when you are trying to ‘mirror/cast’.

I had a massive falling out with sky about 2 years ago, and found all these work arounds (sometimes very frustratingly), my wife likes to record lots of live tv (doh!) so we ended up back with sky... then the full sports package... but I’ve retained the F1 TV thumbup and also have the Sky F1 smile

I was fully prepared for this to be the first season in decades where I did not watch most races live. But this tread has given me hope that it’s possible to continue watching live without giving a penny to Sky or Now.
2021 is looking a little brighter.

I just came here to say the same. £20 per month for 9 months and that is the full sports package (if that interests you!).
