These are peak Ferrari for me. Red car, black wings, black or gold wheels, 27 and 28 race numbers. Before Marlboro got out of hand with the barcodes etc and then Santander with the white parts. Just no. With the possible exception of the F2007 metallic red colour.
The 640 is even more pretty inside:Eric Mc said:
I remember watching it live too - and it was a real "Oh Christ" moment. It demonstrated though, how much the reaction of fire marshalls had moved on since those terrible fatal fiery crashes of the 70s.
It also revealed further confirmation (if it were needed) of the innate problem of the Tamburello - which went on to claim Senna.
For those who haven't seen Berger's crash: https://youtu.be/PXKTGz9txTwIt also revealed further confirmation (if it were needed) of the innate problem of the Tamburello - which went on to claim Senna.
Like Eric, I recall seeing it live- a proper "Oh Sh*t" moment.

Some great cars already posted, 92 was that season that I got properly into F1 being 11 years old at the time, so this brings back some great memories for me:
Such an ugly (but effective!) car IMO. It's always caught up in my mind with blatant cheating- traction control in the ECU menu, fuel flow restrictor removed from the refuelling rig. So it's a no from me entropy said:
Should've gone to Specsavers! They're two completely different concepts to V12 installation.
The Ferrari has curvaceous sidepods, teardropped coke bottle profile; McLaren's are more angular and straightlines.
The Ferrari's ugly nose is flat; 640 resembles a duck-billed platypus. McLaren's has curvature across and as it slopes downwards.
This is a thread for people who like 1980s F1 cars. If you want to be needlessly argumentative SP&L is over there. Carry on.The Ferrari has curvaceous sidepods, teardropped coke bottle profile; McLaren's are more angular and straightlines.

Always liked the Arrows A10.
Probably because Warwick and Cheever were a good driver pair - neither took it too seriously. Both could drive a bit, too.
Also because they were a real underdog, low budget, quite a low-tech car. But it pulled off some great results in the final turbo year.
Not a pretty car, but functional and purposeful.
I always had an irrational dislike of that car, I think it’s to do with the roll hoop which is just all wrong. Probably because Warwick and Cheever were a good driver pair - neither took it too seriously. Both could drive a bit, too.

Now the A11 was a pretty car.

Just to follow up, the I always liked the A11's super low sidepods, and the whole car seemed a quantum leap from the A10Probably because Warwick and Cheever were a good driver pair - neither took it too seriously. Both could drive a bit, too.

Didn't he take to the track at Imola and drove round to see if he could help Senna, to repay the debt he felt he had?
"Approximately 10 minutes after Senna's crash, the Larrousse team, which had been "concentrating on fixing Comas's car and didn't realise Senna had crashed", sent Comas to the end of the pit lane for release despite the circuit being closed under red flags. Comas described "a big confusion about whether (he) could rejoin", and that eventually the pit lane marshal allowed him onto the race course. Marshals frantically waved him down as he approached the scene of the accident travelling at close to full speed. Eurosport commentator John Watson described the incident as "the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen at any time in my life". Comas avoided hitting any of the people or cars that were on the circuit, but after seeing Senna's accident scene, Comas was so distressed that he withdrew from the race, and didn't speak of what he witnessed for more than 10 years."https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDZuuGpz094
For those that haven't seen how Senna helped Comas, it's here: https://youtu.be/sbTrNKBAfI8

I had forgotten about that. Dreadful by the marshals.

Why do you think that the marshals were dreadful? They got there just after Senna did. For those that haven't seen how Senna helped Comas, it's here: https://youtu.be/sbTrNKBAfI8
Always liked the Larrouse livery - I don't even mind the Kronenberg one .
A couple more from me. The Benetton B190 was the last pretty car they made before going down the raised nose route with the B191. Such a nice car, shame about its replacement:
Also, the FW11B. Looked so good compared to the MP4/3 which was just so wrong to my eye; it's peak turbo to me. First time I saw one, I was struck by how tiny it was. 1,200hp in qualifying, 540kgs. Gulp.

I think there was a little bit of that dust sprinkled on the three new entrants of the last decade era, Manor/Marussia, Caterham and HRT. The plucky underdogs.
Not likely to happen now though is it?
I often think it’s a shame there isn’t a way for GP2 teams to make the step up like in the old days but the regulations just mean it’s impossible now, the difference in spend and resources is off the scale. Presumably Campos are the last to attempt it?
F1 obviously have some form of contingency plan in place as it’s not like you’d imagine every team to be completely secure-look at Renault and Haas for starters. Even Honda pulling out must have had them concerned.
I guess the problem is getting to within even 2 seconds a lap of the cars now is going to be expensive and it would still lead you to getting lapped an awful lot!
All good points. A potential strategy would be to simplify F1 aero and regulations massively, reduce budget cap to say £70m, improve the sound through N/A engines and allow promotion from, and relegation to, F2. As manufactures leave F1 and ICE technology behind, it would give F1 some relevance, attract new entrants and would return F1 more of a drivers' championship. I could see DAMS, Carlin etc jumping at the opportunity. Not likely to happen now though is it?

'95 Simtek up for sale, not as pretty as the '94 granted. Please be careful perusing that website, their stockist and parts collection are something else!

Seems that they did very good networking to market that amount of F1 cars...
