I really enjoyed reading this, what a brilliant project! The original Engine cover looks so much better. I would really like to see more.
Have you considered starting a retrospective thread detailing the restoration & subsequent operation? The kind of thing Popopbangbang might have put together?

Keep considering it but a lot is on my cars insta @jonsgarage_18

Although I note that car is currently up for auction on f1 authentics

Night feel differently after tomorrow’s first runsmile(:
Thanks for sharing this, I'll give your Instagram account a look. I really don't think thatI could sell something like this, especially after having shaken it down!

Edit. I've just seen your Insta Account, you were shaking down 25 minutes from where I live, what are the chances!? It looks and sounds glorious by the way biggrin

Sounds great - but the video is annoying as the camera is moving about so much you can't really get a good look at the car.

But doesn't the car look small.

We did have a fixed camera on the car but the first run killed it

I got sent a pic the other day next to sennas mclaren at Monaco, and the euro burn is huge in comparison

Will upload later

Apparently, they have a footprint as big as a contemporary S-Class Mercedes, it's ridiculous.

What do you expect with a TEN FOOT wheelbase?!

I'd put a limit of 2.5 metres on it, that'd learn 'em!!

Some of my favourites already posted - the Williams Honda FW11, Ferrari 640 and McLaren Honda MP4/4, so a more unusual one:

March 881.

Newey's first F1 car - amazingly capable and slippery.

Ferrari F1 87/88C.

Should have been a contender for a championship, but the MP4/4 came along and the rest is history.

Just done a deal to acquire one of these, next to my eurobrun of the same year it makes the Eurobrun look like a tank...sadly I won't fit in it, as Ivan Capelli was built like a jockey and the car was built around him....Neweys book reveals he didn't have enough room inside to change gear so they had to cut a dint in the monocoque for hime to shift into...

Huge congratulations! I've always had a soft spot for the early 90's March/Leyton House cars. Extremely attractive & you can definitely see FW14 design cues lurking, ready to evolve. Really looking forward to seeing this progress. Will you be posting on Instagram as it comes together?

Yep, will be documenting the restoration....it’s got an interesting history as this never raced, it was the prototype/test chassis....so literally the first newey f1 car

Great! Really looking forward to this. It's also nice to see the "Newey bump", seem to remember his Autobiography mentioning that he fashioned a mould out of Clay & grafted the Carbon Bump onto the Chassis overnight? Something along those lines. Anyway, looking forward to this.

Its on the speedmaster site...currently lives in the next village to me. Lovely machine, very well restored.

191-6 is literally the first car MS drove for Jordan. He used it in practice at Spa. He then used 191-5 for the race.

If you look on my instagram there is a cracking photo of my eurobrun, taken from the onboard camera of 191-6 while they were both out playing at donning ton in april

Now you know why most people hate insurance companies, coz they make so much money off of you they can afford two bloody F1 cars!

I read somewhere he did a test at Silverstone in 191-6, did he use it in practice at Spa as well? whats your IG? id love to see it in the flesh.

I've seen 191-5 in the flesh and 191-4

This is what I love about Pistonheads.

'I like this old F1 car...'

'...I just bought one!'

I think Ivan discusses this in the Motorsport podcast (which is well worth watching) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18b-bdFqbFo
