30 mins in to the McLaren launch and no sign of the car. Just mindless crap

I noticed Danny pull up level to Lando's car at the start, then let it roll about a foot in front of it. Probably just one of those things...

They're bound to be wary of one another right now I guess. And Lando was perhaps a bit ballsy to say he would be 'taking more of a leadership role' in the team due to his experience. Ok... Danny might be new to Mclaren but he's been racing in F1 at a high level for over a decade!

I reckon they'll be OK though. Danny managed to fight tooth and claw with Max for years and even then maintained a good relationship overall.

Frankly it's all just a bit mindless and st!

I think it was when Danny tried to make a joke and said “you were only out of school a few years ago’ Lando didn’t seem to take it as a joke and said ‘yeah because you were there 20 years ago’ nothing major admittedly but a bit of tension I felt. Also noticed the ‘you left the light on’ a little dig from lando.

Probably just feeling eachother out but definitely a bit of tension imo

Interesting, the side-pods are completely different than last year. Far less bulbous just behind the openings.

Tighter packaged all the way. It's hard to see as last years car was painted in papaya to look narrow with the more bulbous areas in blue. But if you look at Deesee's image carefully you can see the outline of the rear half of the car is a fair bit narrower overall now, not just the pods.

No way of knowing how it will translate on track but it certainly looks like a job well done

Just a look at those 4 pics of 2020/2021 is enough.
The boring presentation is a lesson learned.
Does F1 think it will get new fans by dumbing everything down? The people they will get would not notice if it was a truck race at 1pm sunday.
Maybe thats the plan.

What are you expecting to see?

It's not like next year where it will be a noticeable difference from the current generation.

I just imagine they will be the usual pr bullst

Have you seen the pictures above? The Mclaren looks completely different (in so far as any F1 car looks completely different from any other) than last year's car.

Just watched it, no tension that I could tell. Both being pretty normal and normal with each other in their own ways.

I'm certain the aerodynamicists really love having the big as possible floor

I know what you mean though. Racing cars used to look a lot prettier than they do now.
