Remember when Button was badly advised at getting out of his BAR contract so he could go back to Williams and not knowing beforehand that there were performance clauses preventing him from leaving.
What's the chances of Max of having a strop because of not being in a WDC winning car anymore?
I suspect Max is better advised. What's the chances of Max of having a strop because of not being in a WDC winning car anymore?

They already employ Pat Symonds, who was also banned from F1 for the same incident. Add in Ross Brawn and you have the triumvirate who presided over the Benetton team's dodgy 1994/5 years.
True, but then you will have to look very hard for any team that hasn't either directly cheated or "pushed the regulations beyond a normal interpretation"angrymoby said:
there's bending of the rules & creative interpretation ...but it's next level to rig a race that puts marshals & fellow competitors at risk (& imo Symonds shouldn't have been given a role either)
as for poachers turned gamekeepers, fair enough in the world of business & commerce- but i'd say sport transcends those even in F1 (well should, imo ...but who knows anymore?) & should be more akin to criminals being recruited into the police/ judiciary (i.e committing high level crime rules you out of those professions)
Oh I agree completely. It should have been a life ban from the sport for Flavio and Symonds.as for poachers turned gamekeepers, fair enough in the world of business & commerce- but i'd say sport transcends those even in F1 (well should, imo ...but who knows anymore?) & should be more akin to criminals being recruited into the police/ judiciary (i.e committing high level crime rules you out of those professions)

Vegas GP..
Mooted for the 23rd/25th of November, 8pm local time start!
Save it for the 2023 thread ;-)Mooted for the 23rd/25th of November, 8pm local time start!
If the rumours are true then it should be pretty awesome, Night race, on the strip, passing some of the best hotels, on the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend. Will sell out and then some.
I hate Vegas and don't gamble, but I might go as it's a nice temp in November and the hotels are pretty good.

I can't help but think that thanksgiving weekend is a massive mistake? The competition is huge that weekend with college football (handegg) and the NFL.
The prices are going to be mega also, Miami was already north of $500 for general admission.
Agree prices will be high, but they have a lot of hotel capacity. It will just form part of a weekend of entertainment and a bigger wallet spend. The prices are going to be mega also, Miami was already north of $500 for general admission.
It's more attractive than a 3 hr drive to Silverstone, get baked or soaked or windburned and then return via a muddy car park, etc.
F1 practice, cocktails, take in a show/film, gamble, eat, quali, repeat, race, repeat.
Targeting a £2k/head spend at a guess, plus the F1 is more family friendly than gambling.

Dunno if Vegas is on a grid system of roads but it could be like Baku with long straights and right and left turns. That race is pretty exciting.
Or it could be in a car park... resolve10 said:
I know he's generally thought to be a bit of a muppet, but I'd have liked to have seen Ticktum in F1. Refreshingly un-media savvy, it'd be worth it just for the interviews after a race went badly.
F1 has it's flaws, but if Ticktum got a seat then I would genuinely reconsider watching the sport. He has no place in it.davidd said:
Our FIA people are due to fly on sunday. Testing tomorrow I think. There is a lot of stuff to set up for a race but I'm sure they will get it sorted even if they have to travel mon/tue.
Sure, but I also know loads of people still testing positive at 10 days... Sure they will sort something.

Unfortunately, many a young driver have missed their chance over the years.
Drivers are entering F1 younger and having longer careers.
Alonso, Hamilton, Vettel, Ricciardo and Perez are probably pushing a combined 70 years in F1. A few years ago, you could add Kimi to that list.
On one hand, everyone having a young driver program is great, but on the other there's rarely a spot available in F1.
True but there is something fundamentally wrong if a guy who wins three top series in a row as a rookie can't get a seat...Drivers are entering F1 younger and having longer careers.

Is F1's goal actually to create a 2nd tier of regional series?
So you could have Formula Americas, Formula Europe and Formula APAC titles, then the global series, displacing the likes of IndyCar entirely?
You could have 15 races in each region and it would act as a feeder for F1 Global. More of a brand play than anything...
Just a thought.
