All these commentators that everyone think must go, whichever one it is.

Why don't you watch a different sport or turn the sound off?

I can honestly say none of them bother me if they get a bit excited, if you don't get animated by a sport maybe it's not for you?
Well said. Just turn the commentary down if you don't like it.
Quite.
It's not "quite" at all the commentary team is a vital part of watching/understanding an F1 race, it's not too much to ask to have commentator that doesn't sound like a aged radio host parody...the rest of team manage it.

Quite hehe

Bit ridiculous to say 'just don't watch it then' isn't it.

Nothing wrong with any of them . The problems come when the repeated clips of winner crossing the line or incident and the commentator shout with it. After a few times you get sick of it.
Forgot how offensive edwards winner shout is till the last race reminded me.
When they did the season compilation you wanted to kick the telly in after the 3rs of 4th one and there were plenty to go after that.
I blame the tv production people myself. A shower of idiots.
Just imagine, its like someone trying to get your attention when you are already looking. Tossers.

Absolutely awful! I just wish he'd shut up! I didn't think anyone could be worse than Johnathan Legard.

I don't remember many people complaining about him when he was doing F2 commentary previously. Is that because he was on Sky and therefore only watched by those who also had to put up with Croft as well, or has his style changed now that he has to read the F1 script?

So, Murray Walker didn’t over emphasis certain words and get over excited...... is that really your argument here....?

The very big difference between the two commentators, being MW did not scream artificially, pretending something exciting is happening. Crossing the finish line having led easily from the start, does not warrant screaming at the audience, as if a driver has won by half a length.

The C4 screaming commentator no longer annoys me though - volume mute. I do not even know his name.

Plenty of artificial screaming today when he declared a Mercedes 1-2…

…after the first runs in Q3 rolleyes

Didn’t help that Billy monger was back this week monotoning his way through the sessions too

No Coulthard or Webber this week to offset the weak commentators

Murray was an absolute legend, he had petrol running through his veins, not blood. We have had other great commentators, some loud, some quiet, some hilarious, some quite dry - Syd Waddell, Brian Johnston, John Arlott, David Coleman, Peter Alliss, Ritchie Benaud, John Motson, Ted Lowe and more. They were characters who really knew the sports they were commentating on.

The most annoying thing about monger is his constant ‘the rear tyres are screaming’; he says it 10 times every lap

I thought Billy did a sterling job, stepping up well at this race.

Yeah he sounded alright. Jaques was still quite annoying at peak occasions to the extent I had to reduce volume extensively and mute when I could see something brewing. Eg any overtake whatsoever

Jacques has at least stopped the emphasis of random words.

Still annoying though.

Come back Ben, all is forgiven.

I noticed the same, I thought the standard of commentary by all had improved yesterday (Ch4) Perhaps it was a case of them settling in ?

This will be fascinating.
This is going to be intriguing.
I'll be the judge of that.

Perhaps it was a case of listening to some of the feedback?

He/they certainly had some, deservedly so imo. If that's the case then all credit to them both, I was curious to see if anyone else had noticed after thinking I may have been distracted by such a fascinating race !

A commentary team of Sid Waddell and Ted Lowe would have been fantastic. smile
